Our church offices First Church of God and The Commons Coffee Bar Commons Coffee Bar will be closed on Monday (September 7) in observance of Labor Day! 🇺🇸

We pause to give thanks for the gift of work, the people whose labor strengthens our communities, and the God who is present with us in both our work and our rest.

Whatever this Labor Day looks like for you, may you find time to slow down, enjoy the people around you, and remember that every good and perfect gift comes from our good and perfect God!

A dream years in the making is now a reality. 🌳❤️

Euclid Park — the first developed park in Benton Heights — is officially OPEN!

Through years of listening, serving, advocating, and investing in this community, New Heights CCDA New Heights CCDA and First Church First Church of God together with Benton Charter Township and an incredible network of community partners, helped bring this shared vision to life.

This is more than a park. It’s a place for children to play, families to gather, neighbors to connect, and generations to make memories together. 💚

We are incredibly grateful for every organization, leader, donor, volunteer, and neighbor who helped make this possible.

This is what happens when a community comes together. And we can’t wait to see what God continues to do in Benton Heights. 🙌🏽

A MILESTONE FOR BENTON HEIGHTS. 🌳❤️

Euclid Park is officially open — the first developed park in Benton Heights and the realization of a dream this community has carried for years.

For more than a decade, New Heights CCDA New Heights CCDA has been listening to the voices of Benton Heights residents and advocating alongside the community for a place where children can play, families can gather, neighbors can connect, and generations can create memories together.

As First Church and New Heights CCDA continue to invest deeply in Benton Heights, we are incredibly grateful to see this community-led vision become a reality through the work and commitment of Benton Charter Township and so many dedicated community partners.

Some people don’t just volunteer, they become part of the heartbeat of a place 🤍☕️

Today we want to celebrate Greg Kachner and Ren Baldwin, two of our incredibly faithful Commons Coffee Bar volunteers!

Since we opened the Commons Coffee Bar on weekdays, Greg and Ren have shown up faithfully every Sunday and Monday morning — rain or shine. Week after week, they serve with joy, consistency, and such generous hearts. We are incredibly blessed by you both! 🤍

As a small thank-you to two of our most faithful regular volunteers, we’re sending them to Dino's Restaurant & Pancake Housefor some well-deserved time to sit down, relax, enjoy a meal together — and for once, let someone else serve them! 🥞☕️❤️

The Commons Coffee Bar is able to do what we do because of our faithful volunteers. Every cup served, every conversation, every welcoming smile, and every Sunday and weekday we’re able to open our doors is made possible by people who generously give their time to serve others.

To ALL of our amazing volunteers: THANK YOU. We truly could not do this without you. 🤍

For the past four months, a small but mighty group of volunteers has been packing 150 lunches each month for the Benton Harbor Soup Kitchen! 🤍

And now, we’re getting ready for the next step! Beginning next month, we’ll be serving at the Soup Kitchen, helping prepare food and serve our community — and we need more volunteers to join us! 🫵🏽

This is what outreach looks like: showing up, serving others, and sharing the love of Jesus in practical ways. ❤️

This summer, nearly 200 incredible volunteers stepped up to serve at VBS—and we couldn’t be more thankful! 🙌🏽

To every person who gave their time, energy, and heart to help kids have fun, build friendships, and learn more about Jesus: THANK YOU! You made an incredible impact. 🧡

But serving in Children’s Ministry doesn’t stop when summer ends! We need amazing volunteers all year long. Whether you love working directly with kids or prefer serving behind the scenes, there’s a place for you—from the nursery and small groups to tech and more. Even serving once a month can make a difference!
