Dr. Bryan Pearlman begins our day 2 keynote.

Gifted students are often celebrated for their intellect, but their emotional world is just as complex and just as important. In this powerful and deeply human keynote, Dr. Bryan Pearlman, therapist, author, keynote speaker, adjunct professor of educational psychology, and former gifted teacher, gifted director, and principal, invites educators to rethink how we support advanced learners.

This session is not only grounded in research and decades of professional experience. It is personal.

Kyna Iman, our legislative consultant, updates us on the advocacy agenda.

ACTION ALERT - Comments Needed

Per Executive Order 25-14, the Missouri School Funding Modernization Task Force shall submit a final report to the Governor by December 1, 2026, detailing recommendations for potential state funding models for K-12 public and charter schools. The report should include up to three alternative recommendations or components of the recommended model, as well as a summary of feedback garnered through the work of the Task Force from stakeholders.
The Public Comment period is now open and GAM is requesting you to take action to submit support for Gifted Education in Missouri schools.
Complete the following steps to Submit comments to the Task Force prior to October 30, 2026:
1. Go to DESE’s website: www.dese.mo.gov
Homepage | Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
2. Click on EXECUTIVE ORDERS
3. Click on Missouri School Funding Modernization Task Force:
Missouri School Funding Modernization Task Force (Executive Order 25-14) | Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
4. Click on Submit Comments to the Task Force
5. Click OK and complete form.
Please add a comment to support funding for gifted education in every Missouri school district. Please support the Task Force’s recommendation to include a “weight” in the school funding formula to provide funds for gifted education students.
You can include a comment on why you support gifted education and why you believe it is important to continue programs for Missouri gifted and talented students.
6. Click Submit.

If you have questions, please contact me at [email protected]
