Global Brigades at Michigan State University

Global Brigades at Michigan State University Global Brigades offers skill-based 1-3 week brigades to Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and Ghana through a holistic and sustainable development model.

Global Brigades is the world’s largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization. Since 2004, Global Brigades has mobilized tens of thousands of university students and professionals through skill-based programs that work in partnership with community members to improve quality of life in under-resourced regions while respecting local culture. Global Brigades has a system

of Holistic Development that collectively implements health, economic, and education initiatives through several distinct programs to strategically meet a community’s development goals. With the collaboration of community members, student volunteers, and local technicians working to holistically develop or improve a community, we believe that sustainable change can be accomplished. Our chapter was founded in 2011 by a group of students at Michigan State University who participated in the first medical brigade trip in March 2012. The following year, a medical/ dental hybrid brigade was established, which was followed by the establishment of a public health brigade in 2014. With 6 successful brigades so far and over 200 "alums" of Global Brigades programs at MSU, our organization has continued to grow throughout the years.

This past week our Medical/Dental chapter travelled to Ghana for 8 days to help provide care to over 400 patients!

During their time there they got to observe heath care professionals, provide medical care, Dental care, and engage in the community’s! We are so proud of all of the students that chose to go on this Brigade and for emerging in this amazing opportunity!

Join us on our dermatology brigade May 10-16th! We still have a few spots available, deadlines are closing in so get your applications filled out ASAP!

On this brigade we will be providing vital dermatological care to patients in Honduras. We will assess patients, assist healthcare providers, provide medication and more!

We assess conditions and provide treatment to people who may not have had care in years. This is a great experience for Pre-health majors looking to help people in need. Any majors are welcome.
