The Work, Time, and Effort House

D’Coda Overson and her husband, Brennen Overson, purchased their home in 2011. They had no record of when the house was first built, but they estimate it was built in 1965. Their house was 1000 square feet, ½ a mile off the road, and was built by D’Coda’s great uncle. D’Coda and Brennen bought this house because of her family's history there.
D’Coda stated, “We renovated everything, like plumbing, electrical work, and had to shift some things.” They also added another 1000 square feet to their house by building into their backyard in 2017. They had to cut into the house, which led them to cut into a railroad tie to remodel their home walls and add water and electrical lines.
“I give all the remolding credit to Brennen, my husband, because he did all the remodeling by himself,” explained D’Coda. D’Coda advises, “It is not important to purchase older homes unless you want to work and put in the time. Also, things built or made back then are meant to last long”.
