Here's a story that I heard at our Missouri Conference in St. Charles: A customer went into a store and saw that all the shelves were filled with salt. He said to the owner, "You certainly have a lot of salt." The owner replied, "There is even more. Look at the back wall." So the customer did and saw that it was filled with salt from side to side and top to bottom. He said, "You certainly have a lot of salt." The owner said, "You haven't seen all of it. We have even more salt in the basement." The customer followed the owner into the basement and was amazed to see salt of various kinds and colors completely filling the basement from the floor to the joists above. The man said, "You certainly must sell a lot of salt."
The owner replied, "That's just the problem. We don't sell any salt at all." We are called to be the salt of the earth. Our witness is to be seasoned with flavor, so that others come to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Let's sell the salt that only Jesus brings: grace, love, mercy, and forgiveness from our loving Father. And a heaping sprinkle of justice and peace toward others that we meet along the way. Have a blessed day!
