LES Haven Ranch • Giving blind horses a new vision on life

08/31/2026

It was a fall brisk feeling morning! Also we still smell something dead somewhere so I tacked our blind horses up and the boys and I went scouting. Found vultures but no carcasses! Sammie boy does so good with our boys 🥹🥰

We are a nonprofit specifically for blind horses, which means every bale of hay, every farrier visit, every new rescue that arrives… is made possible by your support.

Thank you for helping us give blind horses a new vision on life.

Ok, It’s not ever my plan to post about dead things but I am quite shocked on how our blind horses don’t even care even with their heightened smell! I feel bad for this mama, hard thing about living on a ranch and apparently also harbor numerous deer in our corner lot… have to move and remove it because we do have grizzlies in our area and do not want to attract them or any other predators around our blind horses. I wish I saw this sooner 🥺😔

Today, I’m grateful. Took our blind horses Tawni & Sammie along with ponying Cowboy on a trail ride yesterday! This video looks peaceful, beautiful and fun! However, in reality, this day was not what we expected! First off, it showed no rain or storms in the forecast before hauling 2 hours out to this trail head! Once we got to the trailhead, it was slammed pack with cars with no where to park. I had to park down the road a ways and ride in! Once we tacked up and rode in, a storm rolled in with gusts of wind. Tawni, I was on, was not liking the gusts of wind through the trees and the trees shifting, so I decided to turn around and just road ride which was still fun, the only hard part about doing the road ride was that it was going up hill which tired our horses out quickly and we cut that short. We then get back to the horse trailer to un-tack and head back, I brought a couple of apples for us to snack on and I went to take a small bite to give to each horse as a treat and appreciation for going on this ride. Cowboy then chokes! A small piece of apple is somehow lodged in his throat. We try to massage his neck, did everything in our power to try and shift that piece of apple but couldn’t. So we rushed to load Sammie and Tawni in the front half of the trailer and I put Cowboy in the back half loose and rushed out till I had phone survice to call my vet. Once to service, I checked on Cowboy quick with our vet on the phone and he’s still choking. We head towards Missoula where my vet is, and I stopped again to check on him and see if he was draining out of his nose or frothing. By the miracle of God, He answered our prayers and Cowboy was no longer choking. Cowboy is fine, but after all that, no more carrots or apples for our horses. We all stayed calm through it all but it was still traumatizing nonetheless. So thankful to have the time we had and to be in God’s presence and creation but most of all, thankful that Cowboy is ok! If you don’t remember Cowboy, he was a rescue that was misdiagnosed going blind but to find out after rescuing, he wasn’t, just mistreated so we personally adopted him.

We had the pleasure to have Mission Mountain Empowerment out today to visit our blind horses, Adaya absolutely loved Jessica. I also received a call from Stateline tack letting me know that we won and we are their next rescue spotlight!!!!!! What a huge blessing this is! Thank you all so much for supporting our blind horse rescue and sanctuary so that we can continue to do what we love to do with our blind horses and to be able to bless others like Mission Mountain Empowerment ! I was also informed that it was the last rescue spotlight that received 4k in weatherbeeta and that there’s a surprise on what the next vendor they will be partnering with for their next rescue spotlight (which is us 🤯 that’s so crazy to think, I’m crying!!!! Our blind horses so deserve this 🥹)! Anyways, that was my misunderstanding, so I apologize for that!!!!! We are looking forward to what lies ahead with State Line Tack and we are so thankful and honored for this blessing of an opportunity!!!! Oh and in the meantime, it looks like, due to this, y’all will be keeping us on socials for a while 😅🥹🥰🙏🏼 God knew!
