The Eameses found inspiration just about everywhere.

Charles and Ray Eames were prolific collectors, surrounding themselves with toys, folk art, everyday objects and curious things that caught their attention. For them, collecting was part of the design process. Looking closely at the world around them helped shape how they thought, experimented and created.

Opening October 17 at The MAC, EAMES & EAMES brings many of these personal objects into the gallery alongside their work, offering a closer look at the curiosity behind one of the most influential creative partnerships of the 20th century.

The main gallery may be getting ready for something new, but our Museum Store is still very much open for business! 🛍️

While we prepare for our next exhibition, there’s still plenty to browse at The MAC. From favorites inspired by The Wyeths family, to fresh arrivals (including a new calendar from artist Dominique Pfahl), artful gifts, and what we firmly believe is one of the best greeting card collections around, there’s always something that catches our eye.

Stop by, say hello, and do a little browsing. You don’t need a museum ticket to find something you love in the store! 💌

Modern design always goes best with a little bebop jazz 🎷

Join us at The MAC on Sunday, October 18 as we officially celebrate the opening of EAMES & EAMES with an afternoon inspired by the creative spirit of Charles and Ray Eames.

Enjoy bebop jazz, Charbay Distillery cocktails and light bites while exploring the exhibition, with private access to the galleries throughout the celebration. You’ll also have time to discover our lobby exhibitions and browse our Museum Store collection of design books, mid-century décor and Eames-inspired finds.

Sunday, October 18 | 4–6 PM at The MAC | St. Helena

Capacity is limited, so reserve your spot soon. Museum members receive special $25 ticket pricing, with ticket allotments based on membership level.

Julia Child’s next adventures are underway. 🧈

After a wonderful run here at The MAC in Napa Valley, Julia Child: A Recipe for Life is hitting the road!

Produced with Flying Fish, the exhibition celebrates Julia’s life well beyond the kitchen—from her famous sense of humor and boundless curiosity to the experiences and people that shaped her along the way. Now, audiences across the country will have a chance to experience her story, too.

A new exhibition is about to open at The MAC, and we’re celebrating with a little bebop and bubbles!

Join us Sunday, October 18, for the Opening Celebration of EAMES & EAMES, created in collaboration with the Eames Institute.

Spend the afternoon exploring the creative world of Charles and Ray Eames, the couple who helped define modern design. Then settle into the celebration with light bites, beverages and bebop jazz - the right soundtrack for two designers whose work and influence were unmistakably of their time, and continue to shape design today.

EAMES & EAMES brings together furniture, art, graphics, toys and personal objects for a closer look at the curiosity and creative partnership behind the Eames name.

There’s a good chance you’ve encountered the work of Ray and Charles Eames before, even if you didn’t know their names. Now, EAMES & EAMES is coming to The MAC.

Their furniture became icons of 20th-century design, but chairs were only one part of a much bigger creative life. Ray and Charles moved freely between architecture, film, photography, graphic design, fine art, toys and objects, driven by a shared curiosity about how things could be made, used and experienced.

This fall, The MAC takes a closer look at the people behind those familiar designs.

Created in collaboration with the Eames Institute, EAMES & EAMES brings together furniture, toys, paintings, graphics and personal belongings to explore the couple’s creative partnership and the constant experimentation behind their work.

The exhibition opens October 17 at The MAC in St. Helena, followed by an Opening Celebration on Sunday, October 18.

Some secrets are hard to keep.

The Eames Institute is coming to the Napa Valley Museum of Art & Culture this fall, opening October 17.

Ray and Charles Eames are among the most influential designers of the 20th century, but their creative world extended far beyond the furniture that made them household names. They worked across architecture, industrial and graphic design, fine art and film, approaching it all with the same relentless curiosity.

Created in collaboration with the Eames Institute of Infinite Curiosity, EAMES & EAMES brings that world together through furniture, toys, paintings, graphics and personal belongings collected over their lifetimes. The exhibition offers a closer look at how Ray and Charles worked together, experimented, made, tested and kept following an idea wherever it led.

Museums may be filled with art, objects and stories, but people are what bring them to life.

The volunteers who generously give their time, the members who come back again and again, our Board of Trustees who believe in what a museum can mean to its community, the artists, icons and families whose stories we have the privilege of sharing - from Julia Child to the Wyeth family and so many more.

And, of course, every person who walks through our doors curious to see, learn or experience something new.

For , we’re celebrating the people who have shaped our museums, supported them and filled them with life.
