As we wrap up our 2026 Online Auction donor recognition series, we're celebrating our COMMUNITY Level Donors, who contributed auction items valued at $100–$499.

Each donated item added something special to our auction. Each act of generosity helped build excitement, encourage bidding, and bring our community together in support of our volunteer rescue crews.

And when all those contributions came together, they helped create something truly meaningful.

💙 To our Community Level Donors — THANK YOU for being part of our success!

Your generosity helps keep our rescue vessels on the water, our crews trained and equipped, and our volunteers ready when the next call for assistance comes.

No contribution is too small to make a difference. Together, you've helped make a BIG one!

🚁🌊 WHAT'S HAPPENING OFFSHORE ON MONDAY NIGHTS?

If you've ever noticed Coast Guard helicopters hovering near Ocean Point on a Monday evening, with bright spotlights shining on the water and boats nearby, you might have wondered what's going on.

Don't be alarmed — it's training, not an emergency!

🚁 Every Monday evening, weather and operational conditions permitting, Fripp Island Sea Rescue (FISR) participates in helicopter rescue training exercises with the U.S. Coast Guard.

During these exercises, you may see:

🚁 Two Coast Guard helicopters operating offshore near Fripp Island.

🌊 Coast Guard rescue swimmers being lowered into the water and hoisted back into the helicopters.

🔦 Helicopter spotlights and flashing lights illuminating the training area.

🚤 FISR volunteers aboard our rescue vessel, serving as the safety boat and helping support the training operations.

WHY IS THIS TRAINING SO IMPORTANT?

When someone is in distress on the water, there isn't always time to practice. These exercises help Coast Guard crews and FISR volunteers strengthen their coordination, communication, and readiness for real emergencies.

Our all-volunteer Sea Rescue team serves more than 100 square miles of waterways surrounding Fripp Island and neighboring barrier islands. Working alongside our Coast Guard partners is an important part of being prepared when the next call comes.

📸 Take a look at these behind-the-scenes photos of our FISR volunteers participating in a recent training exercise! From preparing on the water to navigating as daylight fades, there's a lot happening aboard our safety boat while the helicopters train overhead.

💙 A special thank-you to our dedicated FISR volunteers and our U.S. Coast Guard partners for the time, training, and commitment they put into keeping our waterways safe.

🚤 A SIGHTSEEING TRIP TAKES AN UNEXPECTED TURN

What was supposed to be a relaxing day exploring the waters around Fripp Island turned into a frightening experience for a vacationing couple.

On September 22, an couple launched their boat from Russ Point Landing on Hunting Island, planning to enjoy some sightseeing around Fripp.

During their outing, the wife noticed something alarming — water was entering their boat.

Concerned that the vessel might sink, the couple made the decision to beach their boat in the marsh grass along Old House Creek, behind Fripp Island.

Fortunately, another boater spotted them and called **911** for assistance.

🚨Fripp Island Sea Rescue responded!

FISR volunteers Mike, Harold, and Paul arrived on scene, secured a tow line to the couple's boat, and safely towed them back to Russ Point Landing, where they were able to load their vessel onto their trailer.

The exact cause of the leak remains unknown, as the boat's drain plug was properly in place.

The wife was understandably concerned throughout the ordeal, especially given her husband's medical challenges, and was extremely grateful for the assistance.

💙 Sometimes a rescue isn't about dramatic conditions or a race against time. It's about being there when someone needs help and getting them safely back to shore.

A special thank-you to the observant boater who recognized the situation and called 911, and to our FISR volunteers for answering the call.

💙 FRIPP, YOU DID IT! 💙

What an incredible response from our community!

The 6th Annual Fripp Island Sea Rescue Online Auction is officially complete, and thanks to your generosity, we raised more than $35,000!+ 🚤🎉

That success belongs to all of you!

To everyone who donated an auction item, placed a bid, made a financial contribution, shared our posts, told a neighbor or simply helped spread the word — THANK YOU!

Every dollar raised helps Fripp Island Sea Rescue remain ready to answer the call by supporting our rescue vessels, fuel, equipment, training, communications, maintenance and the many other expenses required to keep “911 ON THE WATER” ready to respond.

👏 A special call out to Nancy & Mary - THANK YOU for all your hard work to make the auction a huge success! 💙

Behind the scenes, these two dedicated an extraordinary amount of time and energy to this auction. From organizing donations and coordinating details to the countless hours it took to bring everything together, Nancy and Mary were at the heart of making this year's auction such a success.

And to our entire Fripp Island community: $35,000+ didn't happen because of one person, one donor or one winning bid. It happened because a community came together to support its volunteer Sea Rescue team.

We couldn't be more grateful.

💙 THANK YOU, FRIPP ISLAND!

Your generosity helps our volunteers continue doing what they do — being there when someone needs help on the water.
