On the last day of school at St. Germain Elementary & St. Germain Montessori, SGFD members volunteered their time at Field Day — an outdoor day of fun & games for the kids — ending in all the kids running through the water discharged from our amazing ladder truck! Next year we need a drop tank, after the water was out it was chants of “more, more, more!” Great day of community outreach!

Vilas County is actively monitoring the developing weather situation and coordinating preparation activities with local partners. Residents are strongly encouraged to prepare now to avoid having to travel once conditions deteriorate and to help keep roads clear for emergency responders and public works functions.

Potential travel impacts—including downed trees, power lines, reduced visibility, and snow‑covered roads—may significantly hinder travel and delay emergency response times. Completing preparedness actions in advance is essential.

Residents are urged to:

• Prepare for power outages.
• Use generators/ space heaters in a safe manner to avoid carbon dioxide and fires.
• Assemble emergency supplies, including food, fuel, a safe warming source, flashlights, fully charged cell phones, and essential medications.
• Ensure vehicles have adequate fuel and are equipped with an emergency kit.
• Shovel snow in short intervals to avoid overexertion.
• Bring pets out of the elements and ensure their needs, like fresh unfrozen water, are included in preparedness plans.
• Maintain multiple ways to receive severe weather warnings and continue monitoring local media/weather radios for updates.
• Avoid unnecessary travel and use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.
• Road conditions can be obtained by calling 511.

Please be advised the Town Chairman John Vojta has issued this declaration.
