PAH TEMPE VIRGIN RIVER CANYON TRAIL
Proposed Pah Tempe Virgin River Canyon Trail – Community Input Requested
Hurricane City, LaVerkin City and Washington County are excited to share plans for a proposed new community feature: the Pah Tempe Virgin River Canyon Trail. This project aims to celebrate the unique natural, cultural, and historical significance of the Pah Tempe area while providing residents and visitors with an accessible, educational outdoor experience.

To help bring this vision to life, the stakeholders are pursuing a grant opportunity through the Utah Outdoor Recreation Grant program (ORPA). A key component of this application is meaningful public engagement, ensuring the trail reflects the values, interests, and needs of our community.

About the Proposed Trail
The Pah Tempe Virgin River Canyon Trail is envisioned as a thoughtfully designed pathway that may include:
• Interpretive signage highlighting local history, geology, and ecology
• Scenic viewpoints and rest areas
• Accessible walking paths for a wide range of users
• Educational elements for families, students, and visitors
This trail would serve as both a recreational amenity and a place of learning, connecting the community more deeply with the area’s heritage.

Why Your Input Matters
Community feedback is essential in shaping this project and strengthening the City’s grant application. Your responses will help guide design priorities and ensure the trail meets public expectations.

We invite all residents to participate in a short survey:

We can’t say how proud we are of our community coming together for this amazing project! Keep your eyes peeled for a ribbon cutting announcement!

This weekend, something truly special took shape along the Virgin River North Trail behind Barefoot Gymnastics on Riverside Drive. Dozens of artists came together to paint a vibrant new mural stretching nearly 300 feet!

Sponsored by the Southern Utah Bicycle Alliance, this project — titled “Canyon to Canyon” — celebrates the incredible landscape that connects us, from Snow Canyon to Zion Canyon.

A big thank you to the local businesses, non-profits and community members whose donations helped make this happen. Projects like this add beauty and character to our community. 👏

Take a walk or ride the trail and check it out!
