Happy Hallow...uh..Christmas? 🎄🎅🎃😱

Seasons greetings film fanatics! The Electric Film Series is bringing you a FREE screening of Michael Dougherty's dark Christmas horror-comedy, KRAMPUS!

Starring Adam Scott, Toni Collette, David Koechner, Allison Tolman, and many more!

As an added bonus, KRAMPUS will be preceded by the 30th-anniversary screening of the Halloween-centric animated short, SEASON'S GREETINGS ( Also directed by Michael Doughtery).

Our guest speaker for the evening is Nate Snow, a respected Film Program Professor at Utah Tech University and longtime fan of Krampus. Mr. Snow will introduce the film and be on hand leading our post-screen discussion on the film.

This really is a FREE screening, though as an arts nonprofit, your donations are welcome as they help us continues this film series to our film-going community. Donate at fmasu.com or in the lobby for any FMASU event.

FMASU's Electric Film Series returns to the Electric Theater on the evening of Tuesday, October 20th with a free screening of Michael Dougherty's immensely entertaining slice of holiday horror, "Krampus." With a spirit akin to "Gremlins," this PG-13 rated horror comedy is the perfect movie to usher in Halloween. The main event will be preceded by a special 30th-anniversary screening of Dougherty's animated short, "Season's Greetings," a spirited gem that would go on to pave the way for "Trick 'R Treat." In honor of this milestone, we'll have "Season's Greetings" posters to give away to attendees courtesy of Dougherty and team. Additionally, we'll be doing a "Season's Greetings" t-shirt giveaway.

On a final note, festivities will also include an introduction and pos-screening discussion led by beloved UTU Film Professor and "Krampus" superfan, Nate Snow.

You're encouraged to RSVP for FREE tickets in advance at the following link but there will be a handful of tickets available 30 minutes before showtime at the door as well.

A reminder that FMASU has teamed with Andrew Rian Hansen and The NEST on twice-per-month St. George Scripties Writers Group get-togethers.

These meet-ups will take place on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month from 8 PM to 10 PM upstairs in the conference room at the Electric Theater Center. Whether you're a seasoned pro or looking to make your mark, this is the perfect opportunity to meet like-minded individuals, share ideas, and receive thoughtful input on your work.

It should be noted that these valuable Writers Group get-togethers are free but space is limited. 8 to 10 people.

The next Scripties meet-up is on Thursday, October 8th! If you're a screenwriter, we certainly encourage you to attend!

A very special documentary premiere is taking place at the Bumbleberry Theater in Springdale, UT on Saturday, October 3rd! It's for an insightful new film called BROKEN COWBOY: THE MATT CLARK STORY.

For those of you not familiar with Matt Clark, he's an exceptional artist with quite an intriguing story. This new documentary was directed by Phil Tuckett and this is a great opportunity to experience this film before it starts to roll out wider In the coming months.

The screening will include an Art Exhibit as well as live music! What's more, Mr. Tuckett and Mr. Clark will be on hand for a Q&A. This is an event you won't want to miss.

ATTN UTAH FILMMAKERS:

Registration for the 2026 Halloween Edition of the Guerilla Filmmaking Challenge opens tonight! We're calling all filmmakers, aspiring to pro, to take part in this annual filmmaking challenge. We love seeing filmmakers grow in their craft.

HOW TO REGISTER

Head over to fmasu.com and register for one of the 25 spots. Once your submission fee is paid, you will receive an email with this year's Rules and Regulations. There will be a theme to follow and props to choose from to include in your film. You will have 4 weeks to complete your short.

Once the challenge ends, filmmakers will submit their completed projects and judges will choose their favorites of the bunch (So, make sure you pay attention to those Rules and Regulations). Prizes will be awarded to top films. Prizes include: Physical Awards, Cash, Gift Cards, and an Official Selection to the 2027 HorrorFest International Film Festival!

As a 501(C)(3) nonprofit dedicated to championing the film experience in its many forms (from local film screenings to international film festivals to hands on filmmaking challenges, etc.), it goes without saying that the arts mean the world to all of us at FMASU. Film is simply part of our DNA. That said, we recognize the value and importance of all art forms, particularly when it comes to our vibrant community. As such, we wanted to take a quick moment to remind everyone in the area that the 2026 Arts Summit will take place on Friday, August 28th here in St. George.

This is a terrific event that offers the opportunity to network with all of the amazing arts-centric organizations in the area and see what they're all about. A day filled with insightful guest speakers, amazing conversations, and outstanding food.

If you're part of the arts scene or fancy yourself a supporter and cheerleader of it, you should consider attending.
