Join Dorchester County 4-H Youth Development and Dorchester County Parks & Recreation in June to learn a range of small-scale homesteading skills!

Join us for a week of introductory workshops at Davis-Bailey Park in St. George, SC where youth ages 8-14 will learn essential skills and habits for a future in homesteading, farming, or agriculture. Each day, local experts and educators will give them an introduction to the following foundational concepts or skills –

Intro To:
DIY/Repair Skills
Garden-to-Table
Poultry & Livestock
Sewing/Mending
Home(made) Essentials (i.e. soap, cleaning supplies, self-care products, etc.)

Applications are open for the 2026 Learn to Farm Classroom Mini-Grants! This program provides funding to support classroom project that enhance students' understanding of agriculture, farming and food systems.

This year, the SCFB Young Farmers and Ranchers are expanding the program to offer two $500 mini-grants per SC Farm Bureau district. That means we'll award eight mini-grants across the state!
