Pulled the DB-408 off the GMRS repeater on UTH today. The antenna fits nicely on the RZR for transport down the mountain. GMRS machine has a temporary commercial UHF band antenna on it that is working great. We’ll analyze this one and try to get it working correctly and returned to service.

Packed house tonight at the Dixie Amateur Radio Club’s August meeting. Adam (W0AKO) is presenting on MeshCore. If you couldn’t make it tonight, we will have the meeting video posted to our Youtube channel soon. Looks like we might have run out of chairs, anyway.

Tonight, the Dixie Amateur Radio Club welcomed a batch of new ham radio operators. Craig (W7CEJ) handed out more free starter radios to these brand new Technician class hams.

They all passed their exams to claim their first ham radio license and a free handheld radio from the club. We also gave them some basic training to help them get started on the air.

Interested in getting your ham radio license? Check out our website for details. Dixieham.org

Congratulations are in order for two brand-new Technicians who both passed their exam yesterday at the VE session in Hurricane!

Not only did they earn their Technician licenses, they also took full advantage of the Dixie Amateur Radio Club’s New Ham Starter Radio program. They joined the club for a full year at half price, and each will be presented with a new starter radio from the club at our August 19th meeting (7:00 PM).

A big thank-you to our ARRL Volunteer Examiners who showed up to administer the testing—your time and effort make sessions like this possible.

Thinking about getting your ham radio license, upgrading, or joining our Volunteer Examiner team? You’ll find everything you need at dixieham.org.

Great news for the club!

Because of DARC’s ongoing support of off-road and off-grid communications, we received a generous $5,000 donation today from the Desert Roads and Trails Society (DRATS).

A big thank-you to DRATS for helping fund our repeater upgrade project. The check was presented this afternoon and the funds will go toward Phase 2 equipment next week — antennas, hard-line coax, and connectors.

We also have some exciting news to share about the repeater upgrades at the next club meeting. Don’t miss it — Wednesday, August 19th at 7:00 PM.
