Kevin Couhig is a storyteller, a retired businessman and a recovering politician.

He served as principal venture investor as the founder and CEO of Source Capital in Baton Rouge. He invested in over 125 companies from 1987 until 2020 during which period he produced outstanding returns to his investors.

Notable companies included First BIDCO, Presonus Audio, Resource Environmental Solutions, Enhanced Capital Partners, U.S. Agencies and numerous others. He served on many private and public service boards of directors. He was named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Baton Rouge Business Report.

In 2013 he was elected as the first Parish President of West Feliciana Parish and was reelected in 2015 serving until 2018. He and his wife Claire reside in St. Francisville, LA and Cashiers, N.C.

Since then, he has put the same energy into his writing as he did in building new ventures. His first novel, A Man for Others , was well received and he was invited to be a featured speaker and writer at the 2023 Louisiana Book Festival as well as the 2023 Miami Book Festival.

His second novel, If One of Them is Dead , should be released in late 2024.

It is the story of the first female homicide detective in New Orleans history. She struggles to survive corruption on the police force, character assassination and betrayal by her peers and murder attempts by unknown assailants as she seeks to solve a complex financial crime that reaches the highest levels of state government.

Louisiana Poet Laureate 2023-2035 Alison Pelegrin is the author of Our Lady of Bewilderment (LSU Press 2022), as well as Waterlines (LSU 2016), Hurricane Party (U Akron 2011) and Big Muddy River of Stars, winner of the 2006 Akron Poetry Prize. She is the recipient of a literature fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts and an ATLAS Grant from the Louisiana Board of Regents. Writer-in-Residence at Southeastern Louisiana University, her work has appeared in Bennington Review, The Southern Review, Ninth Letter, and as printable broadsides at Broadsided.
