WENDY IS OUT OF TIME!! Will be euthanized in the AM we need an immediate foster!

šŸšØšŸ‘‘ QUEEN WENDY SEEKS A SANCTUARY (MALES NEED NOT APPLY!) šŸ‘øā›”

This dog CAN NOT be adopted or fostered directly from the shelter. To save her life you must complete the application at AZFosters.com.

Hello, subjects! I'm Wendy, a sophisticated 16-lb lady, and if you're reading this, you’ve stumbled upon my very public service announcement: I hate this kennel, and I'm not afraid to show it. My current drama is that my boundaries are being tested daily, and I'm having a mild behavioral meltdown that requires immediate, professional intervention.

Look, I’m not saying I’m difficult, but I know what I like—and right now, I like out. The staff notes confirm that I’m a high-value, high-maintenance dog who simply needs a quiet kingdom:

• The Vocal Critic: I am a tiny watchdog whose alarm barking is unparalleled. If you approach my kennel, I will greet you with a low growl and bared teeth. (Sarcasm Translation: I'm terrified and desperately trying to make the scary thing go away. I need quiet decompression, not a busy public shelter.)

• The Male Filter: I don't respond well to males, according to the finder. I am currently operating an adult females-only petting service. Any attempts by men to pet me will be met with immediate disapproval.

• The Picky Eater: I refuse to eat treats when I'm under stress. This is my version of a hunger strike. If I won't take hot dogs from your gloved hand, you know the situation is dire.

• The Leash Game: Getting the leash on me is a hilarious game of catch and drop where I air-snap and shake the leash in my mouth. I eventually allow it, but not before proving I have an iron will. (Bonus: I know how to "load" myself into a behavior tote, which is impressive for someone so dramatic.)

• The Compliant Coward: Once I'm out of my cage and in a quiet room, I immediately approach my handler, sit between their feet, and tolerate slow petting. I experience "intense skin crawl" and will lip-lick, but I allow it. I desperately want affection; I'm just struggling to process it.

Basically, I’m a small dog with major attitude and a very clear list of environmental needs. I am ready to be a loving companion for the right experienced foster - specifically one who owns a comfortable chair and respects my personal space boundaries.

🐾 Why Adoption Fees Exist 🐾

Would you walk into a store and ask for a discount? Would you go into any business and expect something for nothing?
Yet, so often people approach us as if they’re doing us a favor by ā€œtaking a dog off our hands.ā€ Let’s be honest: who pays the vet bill? Who covers the vaccines, the spay/neuter, the food, the flea prevention, the emergency care, the transport, the training, and the love poured into every single animal? We do. Our fosters do. Our coordinators do.

When someone asks why our dogs are not free, they’re overlooking the reality: rescue is not free. Every adoption fee is a fraction of what has already been invested in that dog’s health, safety, and future. It’s not about profit—it’s about sustainability. Without adoption fees, rescues cannot continue saving lives.

And here’s why our fees may be higher than others:
- šŸ’‰ We take on LOTS of medical dogs—those who need specialty surgeries, dental care, mass removals, or long-term medication. These costs often reach thousands of dollars, but we believe every life is worth saving.
- šŸ• Adoption fees ensure commitment and responsibility.
- 🌱 Fees help us save the next dog waiting in crisis.
Adoption is not a transaction—it’s a partnership. When you adopt, you’re not ā€œdoing us a favor.ā€ You’re joining us in the mission of giving animals the second chance they deserve.

So no, we don’t give dogs away for free. Because their lives, their care, and their futures are worth far more than ā€œnothing.ā€
