WENDY IS OUT OF TIME!! Will be euthanized in the AM we need an immediate foster!

🚨👑 QUEEN WENDY SEEKS A SANCTUARY (MALES NEED NOT APPLY!) 👸⛔

This dog CAN NOT be adopted or fostered directly from the shelter. To save her life you must complete the application at AZFosters.com.

Hello, subjects! I'm Wendy, a sophisticated 16-lb lady, and if you're reading this, you’ve stumbled upon my very public service announcement: I hate this kennel, and I'm not afraid to show it. My current drama is that my boundaries are being tested daily, and I'm having a mild behavioral meltdown that requires immediate, professional intervention.

Look, I’m not saying I’m difficult, but I know what I like—and right now, I like out. The staff notes confirm that I’m a high-value, high-maintenance dog who simply needs a quiet kingdom:

• The Vocal Critic: I am a tiny watchdog whose alarm barking is unparalleled. If you approach my kennel, I will greet you with a low growl and bared teeth. (Sarcasm Translation: I'm terrified and desperately trying to make the scary thing go away. I need quiet decompression, not a busy public shelter.)

• The Male Filter: I don't respond well to males, according to the finder. I am currently operating an adult females-only petting service. Any attempts by men to pet me will be met with immediate disapproval.

• The Picky Eater: I refuse to eat treats when I'm under stress. This is my version of a hunger strike. If I won't take hot dogs from your gloved hand, you know the situation is dire.

• The Leash Game: Getting the leash on me is a hilarious game of catch and drop where I air-snap and shake the leash in my mouth. I eventually allow it, but not before proving I have an iron will. (Bonus: I know how to "load" myself into a behavior tote, which is impressive for someone so dramatic.)

• The Compliant Coward: Once I'm out of my cage and in a quiet room, I immediately approach my handler, sit between their feet, and tolerate slow petting. I experience "intense skin crawl" and will lip-lick, but I allow it. I desperately want affection; I'm just struggling to process it.

Basically, I’m a small dog with major attitude and a very clear list of environmental needs. I am ready to be a loving companion for the right experienced foster - specifically one who owns a comfortable chair and respects my personal space boundaries.

🐾 Why Adoption Fees Exist 🐾

Would you walk into a store and ask for a discount? Would you go into any business and expect something for nothing?
Yet, so often people approach us as if they’re doing us a favor by “taking a dog off our hands.” Let’s be honest: who pays the vet bill? Who covers the vaccines, the spay/neuter, the food, the flea prevention, the emergency care, the transport, the training, and the love poured into every single animal? We do. Our fosters do. Our coordinators do.

When someone asks why our dogs are not free, they’re overlooking the reality: rescue is not free. Every adoption fee is a fraction of what has already been invested in that dog’s health, safety, and future. It’s not about profit—it’s about sustainability. Without adoption fees, rescues cannot continue saving lives.

And here’s why our fees may be higher than others:
- 💉 We take on LOTS of medical dogs—those who need specialty surgeries, dental care, mass removals, or long-term medication. These costs often reach thousands of dollars, but we believe every life is worth saving.
- 🐕 Adoption fees ensure commitment and responsibility.
- 🌱 Fees help us save the next dog waiting in crisis.
Adoption is not a transaction—it’s a partnership. When you adopt, you’re not “doing us a favor.” You’re joining us in the mission of giving animals the second chance they deserve.

So no, we don’t give dogs away for free. Because their lives, their care, and their futures are worth far more than “nothing.”

Hope and her puppies are off to their foster home in Tucson tomorrow.
Thank you Andi Golden for saying yes! Fostering truly saves lives and helps us make room to save more lives!
We couldn't do this without the help of our Fosters, volunteers and the community you all are truly the backbone to rescue 🥰🙏 and we are so thankful to have the people we have supporting our mission.

Tonight, we’re asking for your help for one of our adopted pups. Sweet Emma and her mom, Sabrina, have faced the unthinkable this past month - something no adopter should go through so soon after bringing home a new family member. When we placed Emma on August 1, we had no idea the medical battle that lie ahead for her. She had been hiding a devastating condition from all of us.

Sabrina initially suspected that Emma might have a UTI, but soon realized it was much, much worse. Emma needed emergency surgery to remove a large bladder stone - and without this surgery she would have died. So far, Sabrina has spent $9,700 because she just couldn’t give up on her girl. How many adopters would do this when the cost was so high!? We are blown away by her commitment to Emma, and we come to you asking for help. Sabrina has undertaken an extreme medical burden to give this sweet, 2 year old girl a second chance - and because of this, Emma will have years ahead of her and a happily ever after.

Little Angels is returning her $600 adoption fee, but we are asking our community to come together to help with Emma’s veterinary bills.

🙏 If you’re able, please consider donating directly to Sabrina through Zelle, PayPal, or Venmo (details below). Every little bit makes a difference for Emma.
Thank you for showing Emma and Sabrina that they’re not alone. 💕

Huge Rescue Day! 🐾
Today we were able to help save EIGHT dogs — including four who were on the euthanasia list at MCACC.

We also couldn’t leave behind Talulah and Blanche, the sweetest little senior Chihuahuas. They weren’t on the list today, but had a deadline last week — and when we saw they were still there, we knew we had to take them too. 💛

We also welcomed Parmesan, who came with his name, and two 8-week-old puppies — now called Charlie Brown and Linus — who were humanely trapped by our amazing friends at HARTT after being found as strays.

And we’re excited to introduce our three previously unnamed pups:
🧵 A5147440 is now Bobbin
☁️ A5147272 is now Cotton
🪡 A5147349 is now Button

Eight lives saved today — and every one of them now has a second chance. 💕

🌟 Meet Polly! 🌟

This sweet little 23-pound cattle dog just got a second chance at life after we rescued her from Maricopa County Animal Control, just in time!

Polly is only two years old and was heartbreakingly placed on the euthanasia list for fear-based behavior. But guess what? This girl is full of love. 💛

Despite all she’s been through, Polly allows all handling and absolutely melts into pets. She’s still a little unsure about the leash, but with the help of her wonderful foster, she’s already learning that the world isn’t such a scary place. 🐾

Polly is safe now, and as she gains confidence and settles in, she’ll be ready for the forever family she truly deserves. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion who just needs a little patience and a lot of love—Polly might just be your perfect match. 🏡✨

Stay tuned for more updates on this brave, beautiful girl. 💕
