Mrs. Platt, our Elementary School Principal, requested funds for summer school programming, entitled The Beauty of our Natural World. Mrs. Platt writes, "Summer school is a great way to help our sweet young Saints build skills, make connections with peers and staff, and have the kind of fun that makes them fall in love with school." Along with purchasing materials for interactive exhibits, River Valley Raptors, The Bug Zone, and Rad Zoo will be bringing critters to the school for hands-on student experiences. STAR is delighted to support these fun, summertime activities!

We are proud to highlight how STAR continues to grow and serve the Saints community. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, STAR has expanded the ways we support students and families by now offering scholarships to two deserving high school seniors from the SCF School District. This year’s winners are Lucas Hale and John Ellingworth. Kent Yunker, one of STAR’s Board Members, awarded the scholarships on behalf of the organization. 💙

Jessica Arneson and Savannah Freese (pictured) came to STAR with a request for funds to purchase miscellaneous equipment for the new Three-Year-Old Classroom at the Dresser Elementary School. Equipment list includes a mud kitchen, microscopes, bug discovery kits, and more! Thanks for implementing an emphasis on science and nature with this age group! 🐝🐜🐛

A grant request from Melissa Bauman and Allison Luceyer will provide comprehensive training for Students Offering Support (SOS) members. SOS is a peer support program comprised of high school students trained to help their peers in active listening, empathy, confidentiality, and appropriate referral skills. Money granted will allow for training at Camp St. Croix in Hudson at the start of the 2026-2027 school year where training and team-building activities will take place.

STAR is pleased to support Amy Christiansen's idea to use "put-it-cups" to help students with sensory dysregulation at the elementary level by "writing" messages in the chain link fence. Sensory dysregulation challenges students in many different ways. We're happy to get behind this fun idea that will communicate positive messages to the whole community. Watch for their powerful words along Louisiana Street in St. Croix Falls.
