Help Us Build Home Libraries, One Family at a Time! ❤️

At Bilan Organization , we believe every child deserves access to books and the opportunity to develop a lifelong love of reading, regardless of their family's background or financial circumstances.

We are excited to launch our Bilan Home Library Initiative, with a goal of providing 10 families in Central Minnesota with books and literacy resources to create their very own home libraries!

We are inviting community partners, businesses, organizations, and generous individuals to sponsor a home library!

Your sponsorship will help us:

1. Increase access to books at home.
2. Create literacy-rich home environments.
3. Strengthen family reading habits and parent-child connections.
4. Remove barriers to literacy and educational opportunities.
5. Inspire a lifelong love of learning.

Together, we can turn 10 homes into spaces filled with books, imagination, and endless possibilities!

Bilan Community Book Drive — Be Part of the Village! 📚 ❤️

At Bilan Organization , we believe every child deserves access to books and the opportunity to develop a love for reading.

Our 2025 Community Book Drive was an incredible success! With the support of our community, we collected 1,000 books and have since distributed more than 800 books to children and families in our community. Each book helped us take another step toward removing barriers, promoting literacy, and building brighter futures. This year, we are continuing that work—and expanding our reach!

We are collecting new and gently used books for children and youth ages 0–18, as well as GED preparation books for adult learners.
We invite families, businesses, organizations, and community members to donate and be part of the village that continues to invest in literacy and education.

One book can inspire a reader. A community of readers can build a brighter future.

World Mental Health Day 💚

When parents come together, share, learn, and support one another, beautiful things happen.

Bilan Organization recently had the opportunity to bring together 35 parents from across Central Minnesota for a Parent Workshop focused on something we all deeply care about—our children’s education, growth, and success.

What made this workshop special was the conversation. Parents didn’t just sit and listen. They shared their experiences, asked questions, learned from one another, and had meaningful discussions about what it really means to support our children.

We talked about being involved in our children’s education, building strong relationships with them, listening to them, and finding that balance between guiding our children and giving them the confidence to grow into who they are meant to be.

A special thank you to our Board Treasurer, Suzette Harreld for leading such a thoughtful and engaging training. We are also grateful to our Executive Director Ugaaso Naima Haji for helping bridge the language gap and making sure the conversation was culturally responsive and that every parent felt welcomed, included, and able to participate.

Most importantly, thank you to the 35 parents who showed up. Thank you for sharing your stories, asking questions, laughing together, learning together, and reminding us why this work matters.

At Bilan, we know parents want the very best for their children. Sometimes, all we need is a space to come together, learn from one another, and get the tools and support we need to continue doing the important work of raising and guiding our children.

We look forward to creating more spaces like this for our families and community. A heartfelt thank you to United Way of Central Minnesota for sponsoring this workshop through Family Engagement and for continuing to support families in our community.

Our Executive Director, Naima Haji, had the wonderful opportunity to volunteer on behalf of the Bilan Organization team at the Days of Caring community event organized by United Way of Central Minnesota

At Bilan Organization, community is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that serving our community goes beyond our programs—it means showing up, lending a hand, building connections, and giving back whenever we can.

We are grateful for opportunities like this to represent the Bilan team and contribute to the beautiful Central Minnesota village that continues to care for, support, and uplift one another. 🩷💙

💛 Bilan Organization at the Baby & Toddler Expo!💛

Bilan Organization was grateful to participate in the District 742 Baby & Toddler Expo as a community resource, connecting with families and sharing information about our work in family literacy, early learning, family engagement, and community support.

We were also proud to have Naima Haji represent Bilan Organization as a Parent Ambassador on the ECFE Parenting Panel, sharing her perspective as a mother, educator, and community advocate.

The conversation highlighted the importance of early literacy, supporting parents as their child’s first teacher, honoring families’ cultures and home languages, and creating welcoming spaces where every family feels seen, valued, and connected.

A heartfelt thank you to the ECFE team Tomoko Rebeck Karin Erickson for thoughtfully planning this wonderful event and for bringing families, community organizations, and valuable resources together. Your commitment to strengthening families and building community connections is deeply appreciated. 💛
