Today was a beautiful and meaningful day as the Bilan Organization joined our community in celebrating Juneteenth—a day that honors freedom, resilience, culture, and the enduring pursuit of equality.

We were grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many families, share valuable conversations, and distribute free books to children and families throughout the day. Promoting family literacy is at the heart of our mission, and there is nothing more rewarding than seeing children excited about reading and learning.

Juneteenth reminds us not only to reflect on our history but also to invest in our future. By encouraging literacy, education, and community engagement, we help empower the next generation to dream bigger, achieve more, and create positive change.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared in the celebration, and supported our efforts. Together, we honored the past, celebrated the present, and strengthened our commitment to building a brighter future for all.

We are honored to welcome Naima M. Haji to the Global Somali Awards 2026. A passionate educator, consultant, author, and community leader, Naima has dedicated her career to empowering children and immigrant families through literacy and advocacy.

As the founder of Bilan Organization and Bilan Consulting, Naima works tirelessly to promote equitable opportunities and foster community engagement among low-income and immigrant households. She is also an accomplished author, having published two bilingual English-Somali children's books in 2023, championing representation for bilingual students. Her remarkable journey, from arriving in the U.S. in 2017 to earning her Master's degree in Educational Administration and Leadership from St. Cloud State University in 2024, serves as a profound testament to resilience and purpose.

Join us in celebrating a leader and mother of four whose commitment to education, leadership, and service continues to transform lives and inspire future generations!
