🚨 EMERGING DRUG ALERT: CYCHLORPHINE

The illicit drug supply continues to change — and awareness has to change with it.

Cychlorphine is an emerging, highly potent synthetic opioid that has been identified in the illicit drug supply, including in counterfeit pills and mixtures containing other substances.

One of the greatest dangers is that a person may have no idea it is present. Standard fentanyl test strips and routine opioid urine screens may not detect cychlorphine.

If you suspect an opioid overdose:

đź’ś Give naloxone (Narcan)
đź’ś Call 911 immediately
đź’ś Stay with the person
đź’ś Give additional doses of naloxone if the person does not respond and follow emergency-dispatch instructions

Never take a pill that was not prescribed to you and dispensed by a licensed pharmacy. Counterfeit pills can look nearly identical to legitimate medications, and there is no reliable way to know what they contain just by looking at them.

Please share this information. Someone you know may never intentionally seek out cychlorphine — but that does not mean they cannot encounter it.

Knowledge saves lives. Awareness saves lives. Every life has value.

Together, we can change the story. đź’ś

Today, August 21, is National Fentanyl Prevention & Awareness Day. đź’ś

For me, fentanyl awareness will never simply be about statistics.

It has a name.
It has a face.
It has a family that still misses someone.
For me, that name is Taniel.

Fentanyl has changed the lives of far too many families. And one of the most frightening realities today is that people may not even know they are taking it. Illicit fentanyl can be found in counterfeit pills and mixed with other drugs, turning one decision into a potentially fatal one.

That is why conversations matter.

Talk openly about fentanyl.
Learn what an overdose looks like.
Carry naloxone and know how to use it.
Share accurate information.
And please—choose compassion over judgment.

We cannot bring back the people we have lost. But we can honor them by doing everything we can to protect the people who are still here.

Taniel’s Trek exists because I believe education can save lives, compassion can change lives, and every life has value.

Today, I remember Taniel.

And I remember every person whose life ended far too soon because of fentanyl.

May we keep saying their names.
May we keep telling their stories.
And may we keep having the conversations that could save someone else’s life. 💜

One conversation. One act of compassion. One life changed.

Recovery doesn’t always look dramatic.

Sometimes, it looks like getting up and going to work.
Laughing with your family.
Rebuilding trust.
Showing up when it would be easier to disappear.
Learning how to live again.

Recovery has many faces because addiction has never had just one.

It affects parents and children. Professionals and neighbors. Friends and families. People from every background and every walk of life.

And just as there is no single face of addiction, there is no single path to recovery.

During Overdose Awareness Month, we want to remind people of something that can sometimes get lost in the statistics:

People recover. Lives change. Families heal. Hope is real.

Recovery isn’t simply about stopping the use of a substance. It’s about rebuilding a life — sometimes one ordinary moment at a time.

If you are struggling, or if you love someone who is, please know that the story does not have to end here.

đź’ś Recovery is possible.

At Taniel’s Trek, we believe every life has value, every story matters, and no one should be defined by the hardest chapter of their life.

Recovery doesn’t mean forgetting where you’ve been.

It means believing that where you’ve been doesn’t have to determine where you’re going.

For someone in recovery, every day can be another opportunity to rebuild, reconnect, heal, and begin again. The past may always be part of the story—but it does not have to be the final chapter.

At Taniel’s Trek, we believe recovery deserves to be talked about with the same openness that we talk about addiction and overdose.

Because people need to know that recovery is possible.

They need to know that a life affected by addiction still has value.

And they need to know that it is never too late to write a different chapter.

This August, during Overdose Awareness Month, we remember those we have lost. We educate ourselves about the realities of addiction and overdose. And we also honor the people who are still here—doing the difficult, courageous work of recovery one day at a time.

đź’ś Awareness. Education. Recovery. Healing.

Every life has value.
Every story matters.
And as long as someone is here, there is hope.

Follow Taniel’s Trek as we continue building a community rooted in awareness, education, recovery, and healing.

And if this message might give someone hope today, please share it. You never know who may need to see it.

Recovery is about so much more than stopping the use of a substance.

It’s about getting pieces of life back that may have felt lost.

đź’ś Relationships begin to heal.
đź’ś Trust can slowly be rebuilt.
đź’ś Laughter returns.
đź’ś Dreams become possible again.
đź’ś Tomorrow begins to feel worth showing up for.

Recovery doesn’t erase the past, and it doesn’t mean every day suddenly becomes easy. But it can create something incredibly important: the opportunity for a life that feels worth living again.

During Overdose Awareness Month, we remember those we have lost. We support the families and friends who carry their absence. And we also celebrate the people who are still here—doing the difficult, courageous work of recovery one day at a time.

Because recovery is possible.

And sometimes the most important thing we can give someone is the belief that their story isn’t over yet. 💜

Recovery changes everything.

Not because it erases the past.
Not because every day suddenly becomes easy.
And not because someone has to become a completely different person.

Recovery creates the opportunity to rediscover the person who may have been buried beneath pain, addiction, shame, or circumstances that became too heavy to carry alone.

It can begin quietly — with one decision. One conversation. One person willing to help. One moment of believing that life can still look different.

During Overdose Awareness Month, we talk a lot about the lives we have lost. We should. Their lives matter, and their stories deserve to be remembered.

But we also need to talk about the lives that can still be saved.

The people still struggling.
The people beginning again.
The families holding onto hope.
And the countless people living in recovery today who remind us that change is possible.

There is no shame in needing help.
There is no shame in starting over.

And as long as someone is still here, there is still hope for another chapter.

đź’ś One day. One choice. One step at a time.

đź’ś You are more than the worst day of your life.

Addiction can convince people that their past is permanent. That the mistakes they have made, the relationships that have been damaged, or the things they regret have somehow become who they are.

They haven’t.

A person is still a person beneath the addiction.
Still worthy of compassion.
Still worthy of help.
Still capable of healing.
Still capable of writing a different next chapter.

During Overdose Awareness Month, we remember those we have lost—but we also need to remember those who are still here.

The person struggling today may be the person celebrating years of recovery someday.

The person who feels hopeless today may someday become hope for someone else.

As long as there is another tomorrow, there is still room for something to change.

đź’ś There is hope. There is help. There is you.

Sometimes we convince ourselves that we have to wait until things get really bad before we’re allowed to ask for help.

We don’t.

You don’t have to lose everything.
You don’t have to reach a breaking point.
And you don’t have to prove that you’re struggling “enough” to deserve support.

Reaching out early can change the course of someone’s life.

During Overdose Awareness Month, we want to remind people that asking for help is not a sign of weakness. It is an act of courage—and sometimes, it is the very first step toward healing.

If you’re struggling, please don’t wait for rock bottom. And if you see someone you care about struggling, don’t wait for a crisis to remind them they’re not alone.

đź’ś Every life has value.
đź’ś Every person deserves support.
đź’ś There is always hope.

đź’ś You never know what someone is carrying.

The person beside you may be grieving.
They may be struggling with addiction.
They may love someone who is.
They may be in recovery.
They may be fighting a battle they haven’t told anyone about.

And sometimes, what looks like a very small act of kindness to us can mean everything to someone who is simply trying to make it through the day.

A smile.
A conversation.
A little patience.
A genuine, “How are you?” — followed by actually taking the time to listen.

During August, we talk a lot about overdose awareness, prevention, education, and recovery. But we also need to talk about connection.

Because behind every statistic is a person.
A family.
A story.
Someone who deserves compassion — not judgment.

Today, look around you.

You may never know who needs your kindness. But give it anyway. đź’ś

At Taniel’s Trek, we believe awareness begins with seeing the person before the struggle — and reminding people that they matter.

đź’ś One text could change everything.

Sometimes we assume that if someone needs us, they’ll reach out.

But when a person is struggling—with substance use, mental health, grief, shame, or simply feeling overwhelmed—“I need help” can be some of the hardest words to say.

That’s why we don’t always have to wait for them to make the first move.

Send the text.
Make the call.
Knock on the door.

It doesn’t have to be complicated.

“I’ve been thinking about you.”
“How are you really doing?”
“You don’t have to go through this alone.”

You may never fully know what that small act of connection means to someone at the exact moment they receive it.

Today, I want to challenge each of us to think of one person we haven’t checked on in a while—and reach out.

You don’t need the perfect words.

You just have to reach out. đź’ś

Who could use a text from you today?
