Osceola FD Benevolent extends our gratitude to the instructors and attendees of this year’s conference. To our instructors — thank you for sharing not just your expertise, but your stories. The hard lessons, the honest moments, the wisdom earned through experience. That kind of openness is a gift, and it made this conference something special.

To everyone who showed up ready to learn and grow — thank you. This work is better because of people like you.

The lessons from this conference will carry forward into our crews, our calls, and our communities.

July 30, 2002, A Date We Will Never Forget

Today, we pause to honor and remember two Osceola County Firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, Lieutenant John Mickel and Firefighter Dallas Begg.

Their sacrifice is forever woven into the history of our department and serves as a constant reminder of the risks firefighters accept every time they respond to an emergency.

As we reflect on their lives and legacy, we also remember the families, friends, and fellow firefighters whose lives were forever changed by their loss. Their memory continues to inspire every member who wears the Osceola County Fire Rescue uniform.

Gone, but never forgotten, their legacy lives on.

Please join us in honoring Lieutenant John Mickel and Firefighter Dallas Begg by keeping their families in your thoughts and remembering the extraordinary sacrifice they made in service to our community.

Today, we proudly celebrate 250 years of freedom, courage, and the enduring American spirit. As we honor this historic milestone, the Osceola County Professional Firefighters recognize the generations of Americans whose sacrifices have preserved the liberties we enjoy today.

We also pause to honor the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS professionals, military members, dispatchers, and all first responders who continue that legacy of service every day. Whether on duty protecting our communities or off duty enjoying time with family and friends, thank you for your unwavering commitment to serving others.

As we celebrate this Independence Day weekend, we encourage everyone to make safety a priority:

🇺🇸 Leave fireworks to the professionals whenever possible.

🚗 Never drink and drive, plan for a safe ride home.

🔥 Keep grills and fireworks away from homes, dry grass, and combustible materials.
