Happy National Dog Day Friends!! Waffles is popping in to say “Hello!” today and that she is so thankful for FLDR and foster families like hers! We hope this finds you and your puppers enjoying a beautiful day (please, please feel free to drop pics in the comments as we love seeing you all!!)
I know we have been a little quiet, but it’s honestly because we have been so busy. Summer is such a brutal season in rescue and this summer has by far been one of the worst with a seemingly never ending flow of pups that desperately need our help.
Requests from our local shelters keep coming in, emails packed full of faces needing help, subject lines of "Final Day" "Last Chance" "Code Red", or even just "Please, Just This One”.
In the last ten days we have taken in over 30 puppers, and in the weeks before that were also heavy for intake, meaning over 40 pups with foster space and boarding availability at near all-time lows. Even with so many lives saved, you don't want to know the number of gutwrenchings "no's" that we had to say:( we already have requests for more this week. And we are left at an impasse.
Summers are always very very rough for rescue, and Central Florida, and it has been really, really hard for me to bring myself to write a post asking for financial support and donations....I just haven't wanted to have to ask anyone to donate, yet again, to help us save the pups but my hesitancy hasn't made our dilemma any less, or adoptions increasing, or surrenders decreasing - July and August are always, always, our worst couple of months and this year is exactly the same as last year, if not worse, and we have reached the breaking point. I can't put off this post, or asking any longer. We usually try to ask for help just for a couple of specific pups, rather than detail the overwhelming need, but yet right now, the need overall is just overwhelming.
Until we can replenish our reserves, we have taken in all the pups we can and simply can't take anymore until we can catch up. Since FLDR takes in 80% medical and behavioral cases, meaning our pups need extra medical care and extra time to adjust and that's why they are in rescue, and those pups stay in foster care longer as they get better - summer and "surrender season" hits us extra hard. We really need your help. Every donation helps. If every single one of our fans just donated $5, we wouldn't have to ask for any help for an entire year! However, with FB wanting us to pay to boost posts, and then restricting how many people see our subsequent posts unless we pay for them too, less than 5% of our fans actually see each post, making it even harder to sustain ourselves through the summer. Please, if you can, lend a helping paw. Please. www.floridalittledogrescue.com, any of the links will work, or the donate button right here on Facebook. Your donation will be literally allowing us to catch up and resume saving lives. Lives that are counting on us, because there is no one else. Please like this post, it does help us to reach more of our fans. Please also share, so that we reach more people, and more help for the pups. We will keep you updated on our progress. As always, we thank you so very very very much.
