September Meeting Speaker:

Andy (Baldy) Baldwin, of Baldy’s Mostly Musky Guide Service, is the speaker for the upcoming September 15th Chapter meeting. Baldy, as he prefers to be called, is a longtime musky angler who has been guiding musky fishermen for the past 11 years. He concentrates his fishing in the Park Rapids region and has extensive fishing and guiding experience on Big Mantrap Lake. Mantrap is the site of our Fall outing at Mantrap Lodge. Baldy states he primarily casts for muskies because, like many of us, he enjoys the follows. In the fall he also uses suckers for live bait fishing.
There still is time to sign up for the Mantrap outing scheduled September 24 – 27. Contact Justin Sharer to register for the trip.

It was a fun day on Lobster Lake yesterday for the St Cloud Muskie Inc outing. 2 Muskie were caught (nice job!), a bunch were seen (they like those figure 8’s) and the bass were super hungry!
Overall a great time!

UPDATE: Lobster Lake Outing is on! We will be meeting at 7a tomorrow (Saturday) at the public access to hand out PIT tag readers and head onto the lake.

The St. Cloud Muskie chapter has a tentative outing planned for this upcoming Saturday August 8th on Lobster Lake. The group has been keeping a close eye on water temps for the safety of the Muskies. We will make a final decision about whether the outing is happening or cancelled on Thursday so stay tuned for updated information!

Near catastrophic failure. Went crappie fishing about 3 weeks ago after having changed the motor oil and greased the bearings. Yesterday I was finally washing the outside of the boat and noticed this!!!! Lost one of my bearing buddies on the way home that day but didn't notice anything at the time until yesterday. Oh how things could have gone bad if I had just went out on the walleye opener without checking things out in advance. Thank goodness our local Howard Lake Tire and Auto can squeeze me in tomorrow to see what they need for parts. Hoping it's ready for the Muskie opener. Check your rig before leaving home.

The St. Cloud Muskie Inc group spent the morning helping kids from the St. Cloud Big Bothers Big Sisters Program learn all about local fish/fishing. They worked with the kids setting up fishing poles, catching fish, explaining the different kinds of fish, and finally releasing the fish back in the water! What a fun and rewarding day it was for the group!
