Your Saint Cloud Firefighters are saying congratulations to Battalion Chief Anderson and Captain Rasmussen on their promotions.

While both have been serving in these roles for some time, their promotions are now official after successfully completing a demanding testing process.

Local 464 looks forward to seeing the positive impact they’ll continue to have on our department and our members.

Your Saint Cloud Firefighters have responded to multiple structure fires this year where people needed to be rescued. It’s easy to think these types of incidents only happen in large cities, but the reality is they happen right here in our own community.

Every one of these calls is a reminder of why training matters. We have been fortunate to support our firefighters attending outside conferences, HOT classes, and specialized training programs across the country. They bring those lessons and experiences back to Saint Cloud and share them with the rest of the department, making all of us better.

“We will come for you.”

With Week 7 wrapped up, it's hard to believe that today they're already heading into the final stretch.

Over the past week, the recruits continued to push themselves both physically and mentally. Whether it was 2 a day workouts, gaining confidence with the K12 saws, working through realistic emergency scenarios, or learning how and when to put large volumes of water on a fire; every evolution challenged them to think, communicate, and work as a team. They also spent time training on RIT operations, reinforcing the responsibility we all have to look out for one another on the fireground!

This week marks their final week as recruits. They'll meet with City Administrator Hodel and Chief Love, spend time shadowing crews on shift, and prepare for graduation on Friday.

The academy has challenged them every step of the way, and they've continued to show up ready to learn and improve. We're proud of how far they've come and excited to see them take the next step in their careers.

One more week! Finish strong!

Today, as FAO Brian Cash works his final shift, we'd like to reflect on the impact he made!

Brian started his fire service career with 4.5 years on the St. Cloud Volunteer Fire Department before becoming full-time, where he dedicated the next 20 years to serving this community and the people alongside him. Over the years, he became much more than just a firefighter; he became a trusted coworker, mentor, friend, and steady presence around the station.

He also spent nearly 19 years serving Local 464 as Treasurer, quietly putting in countless hours behind the scenes to support the membership and help make our union stronger. So much of what he’s done was never about recognition — it was simply about showing up, doing the work, and taking care of others.

Brian, thank you for your dedication, your leadership, your friendship, and the many years you gave to this department, Local 464, and our community as a whole. We’re proud to have served alongside you and wish you and your family nothing but the very best in retirement.

Congratulations, Brother — you’ve more than earned it.

Today, Local 464 honors and remembers the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer — it is a day of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance for those who gave everything in defense of our freedoms.

We also recognize the families who carry the weight of that sacrifice every day. Their strength and resilience will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends this weekend, we encourage everyone to take a moment to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day and honor those who never made it home.

From all of us at Local 464, thank you to our fallen heroes and the loved ones they left behind. We will never forget.

Week 6 of the academy is complete, and this week the recruits dove into Hazardous Materials training with a mix of classroom instruction and hands-on scenarios.

From learning the basics of hazmat response to putting their skills to work in realistic training situations, the recruits gained valuable experience handling incidents that require a high level of knowledge, teamwork, and attention to detail.

SCFD is proud to be one of only three Level 1 HazMat Teams in the entire state of Minnesota. Station 2 serves as our HazMat station and houses our HazMat truck along with the specialized equipment our crews rely on when responding to these complex incidents.

This type of training is an important part of preparing the next generation of firefighters for the wide variety of calls they will face throughout their careers. Huge credit to the internal and external instructors that came in specifically for this week and the recruits for the hard work they put in all week long.

Sunday afternoon, members of St Cloud Fire Department — both on and off duty — had the opportunity to spend the evening at the Miracle League game. As always, it was truly something special!

Watching these athletes take the field with so much excitement, confidence, and love for the game was a great reminder of what community is all about. The smiles, energy, and support from families, volunteers, and fans made for an unforgettable night.

We’re grateful to the Miracle League for welcoming us and for everything they do to create an inclusive space where every athlete gets the chance to play, compete, and be celebrated. Thank you to everyone who makes these nights possible. We are proud to support such an incredible organization and the amazing families behind it. ❤️⚾🚒

Not all rescues come with lights and sirens.

This morning, Local 464 members Acting Captain Thompson, Acting FAO Schoen, and Firefighter Guite responded to a different kind of call when they rescued 11 ducklings that had become trapped in a storm drain. After some innovation, teamwork and patience, all 11 ducklings were safely reunited with their very thankful mama duck.

Great work by our members showing that no call is too small when it comes to helping the community — even the feathered residents!

Local 464 would like to congratulate our very own FAO Runions on an incredible milestone — being promoted to Chief Master Sergeant (CMSgt) after 25 years of military service.

This achievement reflects not only his dedication, leadership, and commitment to serving others, but also the countless sacrifices made along the way by his family, friends, mentors, and teammates who have supported him throughout his journey.

We are proud to have FAO Runions as part of Local 464 and grateful for his continued service both in the fire service and the military. Congratulations on this well-earned promotion, and thank you for your dedication to your community and country!
