Yesterday was our Chapter meeting. Deborah Cook from the Orlando Chapter gave an engaging presentation on the Boston Tea Party. She had tea and a miniature replica of what the boxes looked like. She gave us the fun fact that each tea box would have weighed 270 pounds and had a game printed on the bottom. Can you imagine flipping over a heavy box to play a game while you're sailing to your destination? Apparently, this is what the sailors on the ships did to help pass the time! Only one of these boxes survived, and is on display at the Boston Tea Party Museum. Regent Claudia Dundas also gave an update regarding the 124th FSSDAR State Conference, which included the passing out of certificates earned by the chapter (more to come for those who could not be in attendance) and a summary of nationals planning America 250.

FSSDAR State Conference Sunday morning memorial service. Roll Call of remembrance had a submission date of January 25 to State Chaplain Tracy Roberts Suarez . Chapter Chaplain Kimberly Britton Tennison processed in with the other chapter chaplains, looking amazing in her whites. Chapter members are also welcome to attend. It is out of respect that one stands when their chapter members are remembered, one may also stand for a friend that was part of a different Chapter. Ti DeCola was also there in white, but as a member of the FSSDAR All-American Singers.

This was Regent Claudia Dundas speech. The highlights of what Joshua Stevens Chapter DAR has done for the past year. Regents are limited to one minute. Chapter members in attendance stand for their Regent and to represent their chapter. In attendance was Nona Osha , Ti DeCola, Elizabeth Lis Daley, Madelyn Dundas, Kimberly Britton Tennison, and Debra Bell.... a great showing and support. Did I miss anyone? I hope not and sorry if I did!

Saturday night is Regents Night at State Conference. Each Chapter Regent gets one minute to highlight what her chapter has done over the past year. Regents are also walked in with a procession. The chapter banner is carried by a page, in what the pages refer to as "the running of the flags".... because once they are done walking in one, they run to grab another and crossing fingers they walk in their own Chapter. Madelyn Dundas was our page this year, and had the honor of carrying our Chapter banner for her mother and our Chapter Regent, Claudia Dundas. This is also the night in which page baskets are won, and Ti DeCola won a basket. Included with these pictures was our very flirtatious waiter just because he was very amusing.

The Joshua Stevens Chapter is making a Splash at the 124th State Conference! This was Friday night's opening dinner. The speaker was Mrs. Lynn Forney Young, Honorary President General. She spoke on the different events for America 250. Awards were also given. Kimberly Britton Tennison earned her cord for completing the Committee Leaders Course. Susan Smith was very impressive in that she completed the New Members Course and all 8 of the GEP courses. Way to go, ladies!
