MN Military and Veterans Museum hosting:
A Closer Look at Operation Allies Refuge
Monday, April 24 at 7:00 PM
Online via Zoom (Free)

In the aftermath of the 2021 Kabul Airport (HKIA) evacuation, the U.S. Military set up processing bases in Italy, Germany, Spain, Qatar, UAE & Kuwait. The more than 80,000 evacuees were then transported to bases stateside (VA, TX, NM, WI, IN, NJ).

Two remarkable Minnesotans – COL Jeff Patton & BG Dan Gabrielli – who were assigned leadership posts at bases in Germany and New Mexico respectively will share their stories of the largest airlift in American history.

The permanent status of many of these evacuees remains uncertain as the Afghan Adjustment Act continues to be debated in the nation’s capital.

Today, February 24th, marks 365 days since Russia began an invasion into Ukraine. On both sides, thousands have died as a result of this action. Innocent lives have been taken, families displaced, and cities turned into demolished wastelands. As this war continues, I encourage you to think of the ways we as a campus can help. Last April, we were able to collect toys for refugee children who left everything behind as they fled to Poland. We still have opportunities to assist. Please visit these links for opportunities to help:

As we go about our lives today, please take time to reflect on the past year and how extremely different our experiences can be from one another. This small amount of reflection can help humble us as a nation and bring us a little closer together in humanity.

Families can spend months waiting to learn the fates of their loved ones, before being forced to trudge through mountains of paperwork and interminable delays before they can lay the fallen to rest.

Folds of Honor (FOH) ensures that families who’ve sacrificed so much for our country and communities receive the education and opportunities they deserve. Whether it’s K-12th grade or higher education, FOH believes the cost of pursuing academic dreams should not be an additional burden.

The FOH scholarship application window is open and will close on March 31. Dependents and/or spouses of fallen or disabled US service members and first responders are eligible to apply for scholarships.

Visit their scholarships page at https://foldsofhonor.org/scholarships/ for more information.

If you know of a military or first responder family who potentially would benefit from a Folds of Honor scholarship, please pass this info along. All applications must be submitted between February 1 - March 31, 2023 to be considered for a 2023-2024 academic year scholarship.

We ensure that families who’ve sacrificed so much for our country and communities receive the education and opportunities they deserve. Whether it’s K-12th grade or higher education, we believe the cost of pursuing their academic dreams should not be an additional burden.
