It’s funny to me that the people trying to ban books almost never seem to be the people reading them. Maybe the Golden Girls Golden Book is more their speed… Nope, no sense of humor either.
Meanwhile, the little free library keeps doing what it’s always done: putting stories into people’s hands.
Today you’ll find The Martian if you like science and survival fiction, Half City for urban fantasy and demon hunting, Turning to Birds by Lili Taylor (Mystic Pizza, Say Anything, The Conjuring), reflecting on how birdwatching changed the way she sees the world, and Everything I Learned, I Learned in a Chinese Restaurant, Curtis Chin’s memoir about growing up in Detroit while running his family’s restaurant.
For the kids, Pete the Cat 😎. There’s also a Little Golden Book starring The Golden Girls which I already mentioned. Somebody out there looked at four retired women and thought, “You know who needs to hear this story? Kindergarteners.”
It’s a beautiful day. Take a walk. Take a book. Leave one if you can.
