Fox Valley Bicycle & Ski Club Connecting like-minded people through cycling and winter sports since 1968 FVBSC was started in 1968 and was originally known as the "St. Charles Bicycle Club."

During the active summer months, there is a regular ride schedule. Check the website calendar http://www/fvbsc.org for start locations and time. In the winter months, there are club XC ski, downhill ski, hiking and snowshoeing events in Illinois and nearby Wisconsin, depending on the snowfall conditions. The FVBSC sponsors the major invitational ride "Swedish Days Ride". In 2022, the SDR will be held on Sunday, July 10. SDR will feature 25, 50, 72, 101 and 131 mile routes. Proceeds from this event help support organizations promoting safe cycling, education, advocacy, infrastructure development and cycling for people with disabilities, such as the League of American Bicyclists, Ride Illinois, Active Transportation Alliance, Rails-To-Trails Conservancy, Illinois Prairie Path and Project Mobility. Our event has no affiliation with the Geneva Chamber of Commerce’s Swedish Days Festival. Visit www.fvbsc.org for more information and to register.

The Door Country Century Ride is filling up faster and faster each year and is limited 3000 riders . . . it has been posted on the club calendar. Registration should be open January 1st so keep checking their website (https://doorcountycentury.com).

FVBSC checks out the Burlington Bison . . . Yesterday Tom B lead a group of 14 on a 40 mile adventure from Headwaters in Elburn to the Burlington Prairie to check out the (napping) buffalo, followed by a coffee stop at the Burlington Bean. Yes, grey skies and a head wind on the return - but another great FVBSC Saturday ride - thank you Tom! (And thanks to everyone who shared their photos.)

Don't forget to check the October event page for upcoming weekday and weekend rides . . . join FVBSC on Saturday, October 3rd as they host their 7th annual “Tour de Donuts” (and look for a new event, "Ride the Spirts" that is in the works).

Today, Ava Georgia Olson would have turned 19 years old. 💛
Late last year, I walked into my usual bike shop looking to buy a bike. I had no idea that conversation with Jack Brandli would lead me to something so much bigger than cycling.
Jack shared the mission of Cal's Angels and the CUREage Ride—an incredible journey that raises money for pediatric cancer research and supports families facing the unimaginable. It didn’t take long for me to know I wanted to be part of it.
Since then, I’ve been incredibly blessed to meet Kenneth Olson and hear Ava’s story. Ava lost her battle with DIPG, an aggressive pediatric brain cancer, at just nine years old. No parent should ever have to experience that kind of loss, yet Ken and his family have turned their heartbreak into hope by helping raise awareness and funding for a cure.
This September, I’ll be riding my very first CUREage Ride with Cal’s Angels. I’m honored to be one of the cyclists pedaling mile after mile for children like Ava and for families like the Olsons. Every mile represents hope. Every donation brings us one step closer to better treatments—and someday, a cure.
Today, on what would have been Ava’s 19th birthday, I’m asking you to join me by making a $19 donation in honor of her 19 years.
