What a beautiful morning to pull Garlic Mustard - and what a beautiful setting! Team Tek had fun removing renegade GMs at Tekakwitha Woods. Warblers sang for us in the treetops, and a talkative Great Horned Owl chimed in.

Great day for walking in the woods, enjoying all the beautiful spring ephemeral flowers coming up and pulling garlic mustard! Perfect day for a work day.

Hello All! With Valerie off enjoying the French countryside and I just starting to begin feeling humanish from a bad round of bronchitis, I'm unfortunately going to have to cancel this weekend's workday. But it looks to be a lovely spring weekend, so get out and enjoy the 70+ weather!

This old cottonwood at Tekakwitha Woods has counselled us to cancel tomorrow's workday. In its wisdom, it knows that we humans should not be out in sub-zero windchills. Sooooo ... we'll schedule a pop-up workday soon. Stay tuned!

The Oak King returns! According to Celtic legend, the Holly King overpowers the Oak King every year at the autumnal equinox, but the Oak King is reborn on the winter solstice. Celebrate the rebirth with us tomorrow at Tekakwitha Woods from 9 a.m. - noon! We will remove invasive vegetation and open up the forest canopy to the returning sun. As is fitting for the solstice, we will have a fire, burning the brush that we remove. Hope you can join us for ecological good deeds and camaraderie around a toasty fire in the winter woods.

The Winter Solstice workday at Tekakwitha Woods is coming up soon! Join us on Sunday, December 21, from 9 a.m. - noon. Will we be cutting mistletoe like these Druids on the Solstice? Maybe not, but we WILL be cutting honeysuckle, buckthorn, and other invasive brush. And, befitting the solstice, there will be a good, roaring fire as we burn all that brush! Hope to see you there!

What a spectacular winter wonderland today, made all the more enchanting (and warming) thanks to the multiple burn piles we worked on! We accomplished a lot burning all those nasty invasive we have been removing, but we still have plenty to burn for our special Winter Solstice work day on December 21st. Thanks to everyone for working so hard today and we look forward to seeing more of you soon!

See these brush piles? See this honeysuckle? Well, they're waiting for you at Tekakwitha Woods. Join us tomorrow for guaranteed fun burning those brush piles and cutting that honeysuckle! I mean, what's better than a good fire in the snowy woods on a cold December day? We'll start at 9 a.m. Hope you can come!

See these loppers? They are specially reserved for YOU! We need lots of help at our Tekakwitha Woods workday this Saturday, from 9 a.m. - noon. We'll be cutting and stacking brush, opening up the oak woods. Don't let these loppers be lonely!

Join the fun this Saturday, November 15, for a workday at Tekakwitha Woods! We'll meet at 9 a.m. and continue to open up the woods near the site of the old McGuire House. It's making a big difference, and next spring's wildflowers will be happy to see more sun. We need brush haulers and brush pile builders, as well as people to cut. It's a great workout, and a lot prettier than the inside of a gym!
