Yesterday’s Women’s Business Council visit to Lazarus House was a powerful reminder of what it looks like when a community truly takes care of its own.
In FY26, 53% of the guests served by Lazarus House were from St. Charles, 16% from Geneva, and 18% from Batavia. More than 53,000 meals were provided with the help of thousands of volunteers. This really is a community serving a community.
We also learned more about Lazarus House’s Center for Transitional Living, which helps guests move beyond emergency shelter and work toward long-term independence and stable housing. Of 24 exits from the program last year, 20 people, or 83%, moved on to stable housing.
