It’s SEA SCOUT WEEKEND!

Sea Scout Ship 4107 is recruiting new members!
SSS Salvagers Ship 1926, Three Fires Council is doing a shake down in the morning for High Adventure
Ship 2028 is gearing up for a bunch of water in the next two weeks and working on float plans amd menus!

NEW REQUIRED TRAINING: SAFEGUARDING YOUTH

Announced at the Scouting America National Annual Meeting, the new Safeguarding Youth training is now live and mandatory for all registered adult volunteers. It's also a joining requirement for new adult members.

Course details: 90-minute duration, available in English and Spanish, access through my.scouting.org and requirements are to complete all lessons and score 80% or higher on the final test.

After completing the full course once, a 15-minute refresher and retest is required each year to stay current.

If you have already completed Youth Protection Training (YPT) tour certification remains valid for 1 year from your completion date.

If you're currently taking YPT, you have less than one week to finish it. After that, it will no longer be available, and the new Safeguarding Youth training will be required.

YOUTH PROTECTION IS AT THE HEART OF EVERYTHING WE DO. This updated training reinforces a culture of active supervision, situational awareness, and safety, ensuring we're all equipped to help keep our Scouts safe.

Oh man is it a full weekend of SEA SCOUTS!

We have:
Trailer repair
Prepping for splashing soon!
Vessel exams
Service at a community event
A PARADE!
And our council swim checks!!!

And a whole other chunk of our Sea Scouts are GRADUATING!!!

Such a BUSY SEA SCOUT WEEKEND!!!!

What happens when you mix 68 scouts and scouters, 11 members of the USCGAUX, the representative from the Coast Guard Academydemy, 1 Forest Preserve police officer, 1 Navy vet, 1 coast Guard vet, our Council Sea Scout Committe, our Council Boatswain, four councils, our Sea Scout Territory Lead, the CHAIR of the National Sea Scout Training Committee, and a whole lot of hands on fun????

We have our annual TACK day! (training and core knowledge!)

Sailboats, engines, marine ecology, weather training, safe boating course, ILSS, sail repair, patch sewing, navigation, lights and signals, Rules of the road (on water!), anchors, marlinspike, spilcing, and Flares and Fires (because no one needs to be lighting a flare for the first time ever under distress!!!) AND MORE!!!

We had SEVEN SEA SCOUTS who were full fledged instructors this year! Which means that the programm is working! Each youth instructor was recommended by their skipper and had an adukt resource to ensure theybwere supported and prepared!

A ton of SMILING HAPPY AND EXCITED SCOUTS who are more prepared for their summer adventures!!!

So grateful for our amazing partnership with the Coast Guard Auxiliary! They cheerfully give of their knowledge and time to help our Sea Scouts!! We had our DCAP, DSO-AuxScout, ADSO-Aux-Scout and our Division Aux-Scout, and Division VC officers all present and cheerfully serving.

BRAVO ZULU!!!!!
