On Friday November 11th, Veteran’s Day, veterans from the four St Charles veteran posts honored all veterans at the St Charles Fire Department. On the eleventh month, eleventh day, at the eleventh hour they conducted a 21 gun salute to honor all veterans.

Every Thursday, our members visit the Silver Glen Retirement Center in South Elgin, Illinois. They meet with 10-12 veterans who live there. The post members engage the veterans in conversation that include topics such as military experience, what the veterans did for a living and personal stories of their family history and lives.

Message from American Legion Post 342 Commander Baxter:

It is with sad news that I have to let you know that Dick Naylor, our current Chaplain, passed away today. Dick retired as a US Army LT. Col who served in Vietnam. Dick was a member of American Legion Post 342, AMVETS Post 503, VFW Post 5036 and VVA Chapter 693. Dick served as the current Post Chaplain for American Legion Post 342 and AMVETS Post 503.
