Chapter 35 DEA is a valuable education benefit—but receiving an eligibility letter doesn’t mean your family automatically understands how to use it.

Many mistakes happen after approval: classes aren’t certified on time, enrollment isn’t verified monthly, school policies aren’t understood, and changes aren’t reported.

That’s why I created the Chapter 35 DEA Workshop.

We discuss:

• Who may qualify and how to apply
• Understanding the Certificate of Eligibility
• School-specific enrollment and certification policies
• Credit hours, accelerated courses, and term lengths
• Full-time, part-time, partial-month, and prorated payments
• Monthly enrollment verification and VA text messages
• Dropping, withdrawing from, or changing classes
• Preventing payment delays and overpayments
• Eligibility periods for spouses and dependent children
• FAFSA, Pell Grants, scholarships, loans, work-study, and other student aid
• Working with both the school’s financial-aid office and its School Certifying Official

20 years of service. And the mission continues. 🇺🇸💙

I’m incredibly honored to be featured in She Served Magazine and recognized right here in Jacksonville.

Thank you to She Served, Celebrating Women Veterans She Served Magazine and Lynn Geiser for the nomination, the recognition, and for creating space to celebrate the stories of women who served.

Serving 20 years in the military was more than a career. It was a journey filled with sacrifice, trials, tribulations, growth, determination, and so many lessons that I carried with me when I took off the uniform.

And in many ways, those experiences are part of why Veteran Transition Success exists today.

I know firsthand that transition is about so much more than leaving the military. It’s about discovering who you are beyond the uniform, understanding the resources available to you, preparing for what comes next, and building a life that feels meaningful on the other side.

My uniform may be retired, but my heart for serving the veteran community certainly isn’t. ❤️

What an honor it was to serve for 20 years—and what an honor it is to continue serving veterans in a new way.

What time do you start thinking about how you’re going to pay for your child’s college or your spouse’s education? 🎓🇺🇸

Once you become 100% Permanent & Total, you may become eligible for education benefits that can open doors for your family. The key isn’t just knowing the benefit exists—it’s understanding how to navigate it.

Here are just a few things we’ll cover in my Chapter 35 DEA Workshop:

✅ 1. Chapter 35 isn’t just for a traditional four-year college. It may also be used for approved vocational schools, trade schools, apprenticeships, licensing and certification programs, graduate school, and even a doctorate.

✅ 2. It’s not just for children. Eligible spouses may also qualify to use Chapter 35.

✅ 3. Learn what happens after you apply—including understanding your Certificate of Eligibility (COE), working with your school’s VA Certifying Official, school certification, payment timelines, and how to avoid common delays.

✅ 4. Learn how Chapter 35 may work alongside FAFSA, scholarships, grants, and other student aid opportunities if you’re eligible.

✅ 5. We’ll also discuss other VA and state education programs that may be available based on your eligibility and disability rating.

✅ 6. Learn how to plan ahead so your family can maximize the education benefits you’ve earned and avoid waiting until the last minute.

So many families qualify for these education benefits but don’t know where to start.

That’s exactly why I created this workshop—to help veterans, spouses, and dependents confidently navigate the process from beginning to end.

Transitioning out of the military is harder than many people realize.

TAPS used to be taught over the course of weeks. Now much of that information is condensed into just a few days — and while veterans are overloaded with information they “should” know, many are still left trying to figure out how to actually APPLY it to real life.

What many veterans truly need during the last 18 months of service is:
• a realistic financial plan
• understanding when income may start after separation
• understanding VA timelines and benefits
• getting healthcare established and turned on early
• confronting emotional and mental changes after leaving military community and structure
• rebuilding support systems
• learning how to reintegrate into civilian culture
• rediscovering identity outside of uniform

Transition is not just paperwork.
It’s emotional.
It’s mental.
It’s physical.
It’s financial.
It’s cultural.

And many veterans are trying to navigate all of those changes while still maintaining stability for themselves and their families.

This is why I’m passionate about helping veterans prepare BEFORE separation instead of trying to figure everything out in survival mode afterward.
