Michael Corrie's prop making expertise making The Mummy's Book of the Dead was featured by Adam Savage on Tested.

NEW! We catch up with propmaker and Fonco Studio Art Director Michael Corrie, who has long been obsessed wtih the Book of the Dead prop from The Mummy (1999). Michael shows Adam a working prototype of his replica of the prop, which he's making for Factory Entertainment to be turned into a officially licensed product. We learn how Michael has designed the book to lock and unlock with his replica of the Key of Hamunaptra! Link in comments.

That wonderful creature on the announcement ... that was sculpted by our 2022 Master Class Sculpting teacher Don Lanning. IF that's not a sign you should enter, we don't know what is 😀

[ Jennifer McManus, Rob Burman, Daniel & Kara Hidalgo ]

We finally had time to visit Rob Burman and Jennifer McManus on our recent trip to L.A. They gave us the full tour of their Rubberwear Lab and working studios for sculpting and prosthetics (Rob) and costume design (Jennifer). We'll tell ya more later! We're a bit overwhelmed catching up here at the Lab after our trip.

We're getting impressively high resolution prints out of our 3D resin printer. It came to us from the dental industry. We're having fun learning all about printing in resin. Our plan is to use it for details on props & prototyping.

Any advice or feedback from your experience?

Our makerspace has the STEM trailer for the whole winter!!! United Way will keep it stocked with supplies. We're having a blast taking the basic lessons and making them better by incorporating the use of our makerspace's 14 labs worth of equipment . Like screen printing a circuit, resin printing or wheel throwing something to add LEDs to, laser engraving a pinhole to make cameras.
