Mayday is bringing PTSD support to Kankakee County, along with mental health support. The goal for the Mayday Foundation is to support First Responders while they are receiving treatment for mental illness and PTSD. There are plenty of programs that will assist in finding support, but there's no financial support while someone is recovering and healing. We are ending the stigma behind mental healt
h. I do not want anyone to go through what I've gone through. I can't let that happen.

-Mayday is blessed to have the support of Julie Rushbrook-McGill, a beautiful soul that lost her son, FF/EMT-P Quenton Rushbrook to su***de in 2017 at only 22 years old. Julie is a fierce survivor, a loving mother, and she keeps her son's memory alive in many ways. Julie brings to us her experience with Team Q, something she created to honor the memory of FF/Medic Rushbrook. Julie is so deeply passionate about her work in su***de prevention and mental health, and she is a warrior for First Responders. Again, Mayday is eternally blessed to have Julie on our team.
-Mayday is also blessed to have the support of Mental Health Awareness legend, Anne Melvin-King. Anne has advocated for Mental Health Awareness and Su***de Prevention in Kankakee County for years, driven by the loss of her sister Erin to su***de. She is on the Illinois Board of Directors at AFSP, an instructor at Mental Health First Aid USA, a former Crisis Chat Specialist at CommUnity Crisis Services, the former Walk Chairwoman for the Kankakee County Out of the Darkness walk for su***de awareness and prevention, as well as an amazing mom who advocates for her children fiercely.
-Lasted, The Mayday Foundation was created by me, Felicia Daverin-Goodrich, PA (Professionally Anxious). I am a su***de attempt survivor and First Responder. When I reached out for help with my PTSD, I found there was nothing, especially in Kankakee County. I can't let that happen to my brothers and sisters that have dedicated their lives, and sacrificed their mental and emotional health, to helping others. No more stigma behind mental health. Talk about PTSD, whether it be acute or complex. Challenge yourself to better understand PTSD, mental health, self-care, etc. Share the knowledge you receive here. Be a Mental Health Warrior with us. All my love,
Felicia
