CVOEO's Samaritan House is currently looking for a people-oriented candidate with a heart for those most in need. This role is a weekday/first-shift, stationed in our drop-in center. You'll be working with those waiting to get into our shelter and our shelter guests on their housing journeys, along with helping facilitate donations and community relationships. You'll get to be a part of a small, passionate team inside an organization routinely voted as one of Vermont's "Best Places To Work". We look forward to hearing from you!

They represent our willingness to recognize the dignity of every person, protect public health and strengthen public safety. These are not competing values. They are intertwined responsibilities.”

Six years ago, a Vermont nonprofit was asked to open a shelter for the first time. That decision protected the whole of Vermont.

We wanted to write to notify the community about a change to our drop-in center hours. For some time, the drop-in center has mirrored the shelter office hours of 8A-4:30P Monday through Friday. As the number of drop-in center utilizations has increased, so too have the needs of our shelter guests and our small team wants to be sure we're providing the best possible service.

Beginning Monday, September 14th, the drop-in center at Samaritan House will be open Monday through Friday from 9AM-3PM. This gives our staff time at the beginning and end of each day to focus solely on our shelter guests while still leaving 30 hours a week for those in need to come do laundry, take a shower, speak with a housing advocate, or just escape the elements.

We’re proud to share that this year’s Charity Sock Sale raised more than $21,000 in socks and financial support for local organizations serving neighbors in need. ❤️

Together with Darn Tough Vermont and Smartwool, we’re supporting Square, Capstone Community Action, Samaritan House, and Joint Council for Economic Opportunity.

And we’ve officially surpassed $232,000 in total donations through this longtime community tradition!

Such a rarity for us to open our extreme weather shelter outside of the winter that we don't even have a flyer for hot weather!

But please use your imagination with the flyer here and know that we will be open tomorrow (Tuesday, July 14th) as a cooling center and shelter from the severe thunderstorms.

Our drop-in center will open as usual at 8AM but will not close as it normally does in the evening. Anyone 18+ (and their pets) needing to get out of the elements is welcome. We will remain open into our normal operating hours on Wednesday.
