Help Us Close the Weekend Hunger Gap for Our Local Students 🍎

You’ve heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but are you ready for Giving Tuesday? It’s a global day dedicated to giving back, but for the Pearls & Ivy Foundation of Queens, Inc., it’s a local promise to our children.

The Reality: While school lunches support students during the week, the weekend can be a time of uncertainty for families facing food insecurity.

The Mission: We are rallying our village to support our CHIPP Program (Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack) at P.S. 40. We are on a mission to close the "weekend nutrition gap" and ensure students have nutritious meals when class is not in session.

What is the Pearl Scholars Leadership Academy (PSLA)?

PSLA is a free, six-week summer program for high school students in the Queens community. It’s all about empowerment, education, and impact. It’s where future leaders are born.

Since 2020, PSLA has thrived thanks to the generous support of New York City discretionary grants funded through the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD).

The program offers a diverse range of learning modules, including:

• STEM training with our partners at Springboard Incubators: coding, robotics, AI,drone making, and more
• The Future Marketers Program led by Google Marketing Producer, Habibatou Magassa. Real world branding and marketing exposure
• The Young Debaters Program led by Richard Celestin, LLC
• Leadership, culture, and service: Leadership skills development, enriching experiences like Broadway and museums, and a collaborative community service
project as their capstone

The Pearls and Ivy Foundation of Queens, Inc. presents...
F L A V O R E D, a Food & Wine Festival, will offer culinary, wine, spirits samplings, live performances and curated workshops led by industry leaders.
Alongside these tastings, celebrity chefs will host live culinary demonstrations, offering attendees a chance to learn the secrets behind their signature dishes. Cultural presentations will further enrich the experience, providing context and stories behind the diverse culinary traditions represented.
At the heart of this exquisite event, attendees will have the unique opportunity to embark on a flavorful journey, sampling an array of wines meticulously curated from both local and national wineries. This carefully designed experience aims to elevate the culinary adventure, allowing each participant to explore the nuanced interplay between wine and food.
As it is a Food & Wine event, alcohol will be present and available to our patrons. Therefore, you MUST BE 21 YEARS OR OLDER TO PURCHASE A TICKET AND ATTEND. Guests are required to produce a VALID GOVERNMENT ISSUED IDENTIFICATION to gain entry to the festival. ALL SALES ARE FINAL AND TICKETS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
