These awards are designed to recognize the contributions of America’s working women to the country, the Woman of the Year award can help to appropriately spotlight a member and BPW’s mission in various types of media.
WOMAN OF THE YEAR
The Woman of the Year Program recognizes a BPW member who has made outstanding contributions to her community and to BPW in the past year. A portfolio similar to that required by the Young Careerist competition is prepared, but there is no speaking competition. The local winner moves on to the state competition. State and local officers or standing committee members remain eligible for this award. Local organizations are urged to seek out a Woman of the Year for state competition.
Criteria
· The nominee should exemplify what BPW stands for in both her personal activities and her business life. A true “woman helping women” person.
· She should be willing to assist other women in personal growth and/or career development
· The nominee should be a respected citizen doing work in her field of endeavor
· She should be active in community, volunteer, religious, professional, youth or human services.
· Though all the above may not be met, she should be a well-rounded and congenial person
· Tell us how has she been a loyal, supportive BPW member

WOMAN OF ACHIEVEMENT
The local organization may have few candidates from whom to choose. An idea for consideration is joining with other women’s organizations to recognize a “Woman of Achievement” program based on similar criteria, but only at the local level. Members of all participating organizations would be eligible. This type of program will still provide general visibility for BPW, as well as contact with women who would benefit from BPW membership.
Criteria
• The nominee should exemplify what BPW stands for in both her personal activities and her business life. A true “woman helping women” person.
• She should be willing to assist other women in personal growth and/or career development
• The nominee should be a respected citizen doing work in her field of endeavor
• She should be active in: community, volunteer, religious, professional, youth or human services.
• Though all the above may not be met, she should be a well-rounded and congenial person

Vermont Paws & Boots.
Michelle LeBlanc and members of Vermont Paws & Boots gave a great informational speech about how the dogs in this program are helping Veterans and First Responders to become active in their home and community lives at the last Member meeting, May 21, 2019. A big thank you to Michelle and the handlers for coming and telling our group more about the program. It was very inspiring for everyone at the meeting.

Debbie White, Chair of the Veterans Committee for FCBPW, presented Vermont Paws and Boots with a $500 donation.
