Food Truck Safety is extremely important!
Here is some great information.

Remember, ALL mobile food units operating in West Virginia must have an annual approval by the WV State Fire Marshal in the interest of Public Safety!

Recent news of a Tennessee couple who were badly burned in an explosion involving their food truck demonstrates the critical importance of fire safety when it comes to mobile and temporary cooking operations.

Requirements outlined in NFPA 1, NFPA 96, NFPA 10, and other codes and standards can help keep food trucks safer from fire and explosion hazards.

We agree Delegate Ryan Browning!
Great Advice. Check those Smoke Alarms!
Kudos to WVU Fire Service Extension for presenting this report during Interims!

Interims at Canaan were very informative this month. We heard two reports in Gov Org:

Fire Prevention gives updates on WV's high rate of fire related deaths.
Our state has one of the highest fire death rates in the nation. Especially in rural, low-income, elderly, and mobile home communities. Many lives could be saved with one simple step: Checking and installing smoke detectors!! Working smoke alarms save lives.
Install them on every level of your home, inside and outside bedrooms. Test them monthly, replace batteries twice a year, and replace the entire unit every 10 years.

Don’t wait for a tragedy, check yours today!

On a brighter note,

Ascend WV is growing strong! Tourism Secretary Chelsea Ruby shared that the program has received over 87,800 applications, welcomed 1,400+ new residents with a 96% retention rate, and is bringing new talent and energy to our communities.

We can protect our vulnerable neighbors and build a stronger West Virginia. Check those smoke alarms this week!

πŸš’ KEEP FIRE LANES CLEAR πŸš’

Fire lanes are not parking spaces. They are not loading zones. They are not waiting areas.

Fire lanes are designated emergency access zones that must remain clear at all times.

West Virginia State Fire Code prohibits vehicles from parking in or obstructing designated fire lanes. Conviction of a fire lane violation under State Fire Code is a misdemeanor and may result in a fine of up to $100 and/or up to 90 days in jail.

When a fire lane is blocked, emergency responders lose valuable time reaching people and property in danger.

The Fire Marshals Association of West Virginia supports the enforcement of fire lanes as an important measure to protect the public and ensure emergency access when it matters most.

πŸš’ Keep Fire Lanes Clear.
πŸš’ Protect Lives.

One of the many reasons fireworks are regulated by state codes and law. Think of not only the loss of revenue and time from the interstate being shut down, but the damage and danger caused by the illegal (attempt) of transporting fireworks!
