One hundred nineteen years ago today, on April 10, 1905, the Daughters of Wisdom established Notre Dame de la Sagesse, its first school in St. Agatha, Maine. It served as a day school and boarding school for students across New England, a convent, and a hospital. Sisters taught in the St. Agatha schools until 1973. We continue to have a presence in St. Agatha, Maine, with Daughters of Wisdom Sisters Jackie and Joan Ayotte (former educators), who, in their retirement years, helped to establish the first public library in their hometown, Long Lake Public Library.
