Talk about “understanding the assignment,” as the kids say these days! We wanted to highlight the local fauna of the San Luis Valley: the Sandhill Crane & the Rattlesnake. Sarah sure delivered, WITH the unmistakable Penitente Canyon, in her iconic tattooer style! 🤩

The snake v. crane holds strong symbolism as yin / yang in martial arts & philosophy.
The snake represents adaptability, flexibility, and the ability to overcome challenges through subtle and fluid movements. The crane symbolizes grace, power, and the ability to strike with precision and purpose. Their contrasting yet complementary qualities offer a holistic approach to martial arts and personal development…
and in our interpretation, the technical & graceful, yet powerful & creative climbing on fish canyon tuff!

More about our Sunday teacher, who is kindly donating her experience & guidance to the festival:

Julia is a C-IAYT certified yoga therapist and continuing education provider based in the San Luis Valley. She’s enjoyed a daily practice since 2009 and has over 2500 hours of integrative training with a direct lineage to Krishnamacharya. Her gentle, informed teaching style helps create a welcoming, inclusive space where anyone can enjoy linking movement and breath. She will offer a slow-flow Asana class to help close out this year’s fest with breathwork, moving meditation, and plenty of options to suit any level practitioner. ✨
