Your Future is in Demand. We’ll Help You Get There.

Dreaming of a career in nursing? Maybe managing your own salon or you would love to become a pharmacy technician. Perhaps studying to become a chef in a culinary arts program suits your tastes.

No matter what your career path may be, there is little doubt that in recent years interest in Career Training Programs (CTP) has grown. Schools offering CTP encompass a wide variety of hands-on education, from HVAC to cosmetology to EMT. In the past, financial assistance has been hard to come by for these areas of study, but that is no longer the case.

Saginaw Community Foundation is now offering scholarship opportunities specifically aligned with accelerated Career Training Program class cycles. Application open and close windows will occur five times per year with awards up to $2,000 per recipient. Current application window is Aug. 15 - Sept. 1, with an application submission date of Sept. 30.

The Saginaw Community Foundation is now accepting applications for its Access and Opportunity Grant Program – a grant program that supports nonprofit projects that advance diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice in our community.

Thanks to a $20,000 grant from the Consumers Energy Foundation, at least four $5,000 grants will be awarded to eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits.

Applications are due by Oct. 30, 2026 and awarded projects must be completed by Nov. 30, 2027.

Join us on Mon., Sept. 14 for our 2026 Annual Celebration presented by the Saginaw Spirit at Saginaw Valley State University’s Curtiss Hall. We'll present community awards and announce the recipient of the 2026 Community Improvement Initiative $40,000 Grant Award. There will be a hearty hors d'oeuvres buffet, refreshments and entertainment. Yesterday, the teams from Saginaw Community Foundation, Bay Area Community Foundation, Frankenmuth Community Foundation, Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation and Tuscola County Community Foundation traveled to Midland County where the team from the Midland Area Community Foundation hosted the annual Great Lakes Bay Region Community Foundation Retreat.

We had a wonderful day filled with discussion, connecting and learning about how philanthropy makes a difference in the communities we each serve.

The retreat began at the Midland Center for the Arts (MACF) where a panel discussion focused on highlighting innovation and gap filling across the region. We were able to get a tour of the renovations underway at the MACF and learn about the new features and exhibits coming to the Hall of Ideas.

Kyle Caldwell, president & CEO of the Council of Michigan Foundations (CMF), joined us for lunch at Nord Social (an Impact Investing project of the Midland Area Community Foundation) speaking about the work CMF does and the important work community foundations do across the state.

After lunch we traveled to Sanford Lake Park to learn about restoration efforts at the lake following the devastating flood that occurred in May 2020 following a dam failure along the Tittabawassee River and roles philanthropy played in initial and ongoing rebuilding efforts.

Finishing off the day, everyone enjoyed a pontoon boat ride around Sandford Lake.
