Today, VCD hosted the Saginaw ALPACT meeting today at the Bishop Marvin C. Pryor iMPact Center. Our County Prosecutor, Chief of Police, Representatives from Congresswoman McDonald River, Senator Peters and Senator Slotkin’s offices and others were present. Nicole Liggins from Guided Grace was the presenter. Our own President and CEO, Pastor Chris, shared the vision behind the Center’s renovation. It was great having this group present to see the progress of the renovation!

We hope you can fill the excitement as the progress at the Bishop Marvin C. Pryor IMPact Center is quite inspiring. The new entrance addition is almost completely framed, the new roof is nearing completion, new drywall is up, walls are being prepped for paint, the new HVAC system is continuing to be installed…it is credible. Pastor Chris was at the building Tuesday and you already know he’s excited. Check out these pics!

Jessie Loomis’ First Graders Visit Safety Town

Victorious Community Development (VCD) in partnership with the Covenant Trauma Program and Delta College hosted Safety Town at Victorious Believers Ministries for the 1st grade students at Jessie Loomis Elementary School, in Saginaw.

Covenant Safety Town is an interactive replica consisting of miniature houses, buildings, working traffic signals, signs, vehicles, and roads. The program is geared toward children between 4 and 9 years of age. The children were guided through the town. During their journey, they stopped at various stations for safety education on topics of Fire Safety, Bicycle Safety, Gun Safety, Traffic Safety, Water Safety, Home Safety, and Dog Safety. Other stations consisted of the more “upstream” approach of prevention such as teaching positive coping mechanisms, positive messaging, and communication techniques. The stations are interactive and last 7-10 minutes each. Students are encouraged to ask questions, participate and share this information with their families at home. Every Safety Town student received a backpack filled with educational handouts to emphasize what they have learned, safety stickers, bike helmet and other safety related items.

Safety Education was provided by Lt. John Pilling of Saginaw Fire Department, Officer Jordan Bady of Saginaw Police Department, and Delta College Political Science students.
