Before we head to the Horizon Conference Center, let's head back to August at the Bishop Marvin C. Pryor Impact Center where today we will look back at the Meet and Greet with Jocelyn Benson. This event not only introduced some to our political leadership but established what is to come in our great city.

Not only was the road paved for us to be here, it was paved for us to go further and that is what I believe will take place in the Bishop Marvin C. Pryor Impact Center. This road doesn't stop here but it will continue and culminate on Friday, October 16th at 5:30 PM at the Horizon Conference Center. This is Shawn Bivens Jr, I am a Intervention Specialist for Victorious Community Development and over the past couple of months, I have developed a social media movement involving the Safe City Initiative. It is an initiative that is put in place to allow the youth to be educated and be aware about gun violence. This post is one of many coming over the next couple of weeks, leading up to our Gala for the GRAND opening of the Bishop Marvin C Pryor Impact Center.

This is Marcellis Johnson and he is currently a student at Saginaw Valley State University. He is a sophomore, studying with a major in Computer Engineering. His favorite quote that he lives by is "Be Yourself And Live Life!" Marcellis wants to take a stand with the Safe City Initiative!

VICTORIOUS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT IS EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE OUR NEW DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION! 🎉

We are thrilled to announce Dr. Ericka M. Taylor as the new Director of Education for Students at Victorious Community Development! Dr. Taylor is a Leader. Servant. Professor. Executive. Educator. Consultant. Author. Mentor. And, most importantly, she is someone who has dedicated her life to helping children learn, grow, and believe in what is possible. With a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, Research & Technology, Dr. Taylor has spent her career creating opportunities for children, families, educators, and communities to thrive. Many of you already know Dr. Taylor as one of the leading and loving educators in our region. Her experience, wisdom, passion, and heart for students make her an incredible addition to the VCD family. Now, she will lead the charge at the Bishop Marvin C. Pryor Impact Center, helping us create educational experiences that combine academic growth, exposure, exploration, creativity, and opportunity. This is bigger than a title, it’s an assignment. Dr. Taylor will help lead our efforts to strengthen academics, support educators, engage families, and expose our children to opportunities that can change the trajectory of their lives.

Dr. Taylor is a wife, mother of four, woman of faith, and lifelong learner who believes that purpose isn’t simply something we discover – it’s something we live. Faith comes first and family is everything. She is a basketball mom and a coach’s wife, so she’s spent more hours in gyms than she can count. Dr. Taylor minored in mathematics and yes, she actually does math for fun, but baking is her happy place.

Academics + Adventure = IMPACT!

We are just getting started! VCD will be announcing additional members of our Impact Center team over the next week. We are building a team of passionate educators, leaders, and professionals who believe that every child deserves access to opportunity, exposure, and the tools they need to excel.

We are so grateful to host great leaders and community partners at the Bishop Marvin C. Pryor Impact Center! We could not be more excited about what God is allowing us to build and the partnerships that are helping bring the vision to life. It was an honor to welcome Dr. James Tarr, Dean of Education at Saginaw Valley State University, to the Impact Center. His wisdom, insight, and guidance were extremely beneficial as we continue strengthening our partnership with SVSU working together to strengthen opportunities for our children while also supporting the growth and development of educators.

It was also great to host Consumers Energy and their team, including Madison Jarmon, Community Engagement Coordinator, who took the time to see the vision firsthand. Consumers Energy has been a part of several important conversations at the Impact Center, and we are grateful for their continued engagement and willingness to explore how we can work together to make a difference in our community. We are grateful for every community partner who believes in the vision, brings wisdom to the table, opens doors, shares resources, and helps us move from vision to impact. Together, we are building something that will serve generations to come.

Dr. Ericka Taylor appointed Director of Education at the new Bishop Marvin C. Pryor Impact Center

Saginaw, Michigan - Victorious Community Development (VCD) President and CEO, Pastor Chris V. Pryor announced the appointment of longtime educator, Dr. Ericka Taylor as the Director of Education at VCD’s Impact Center on Saginaw’s east side.

For more than thirty years, Dr. Taylor has served the students and families of Saginaw through many positions of leadership: teacher, building principal, central administration, countywide leadership of early childhood programming. Taylor recently retired from Saginaw Public Schools.

Dr. Taylor, who holds a PhD from Western Michigan University in educational leadership, research and technology and holds state administrative credentials, will lead the Center’s educational programming in literacy, mathematics, STEM, robotics and the arts. Dr. Taylor will lead a staff of educators providing services to the more than 70 children who will come to the center daily throughout the school year and summer.

In announcing the appointment of Dr. Taylor, Pastor Pryor highlighted the unique qualifications of Dr. Taylor: highly trained, skilled and connected to the greater Saginaw community. Pastor Pryor continued, “With Dr. Taylor at the helm of our educational programming, the community and families we serve can be assured that the center will provide the best for every student and family, every day. We will benefit from the strong commitment to students and families that has been a prominent characteristic of Dr. Taylor.”

The Impact Center is housed in the former Trinity Lutheran School and named for longtime pastor and educator, Bishop Marvin C. Pryor. Bishop Pryor served locally as the pastor of Victorious Believers Ministries (1984-2010) and principal of Flint Northern High School (1976-1992).

Since 1999, VCD has provided leadership and services in housing, food scarcity and youth programming.
