Our youth had a great evening at FACT’s Saginaw County Community Support Hub!

Youth from Youth Protection Council’s Innerlink Transitional Living program participated in Wednesday evening’s Money MythBusters, where they explored household finances, everyday financial challenges, and the decisions that help build a stronger financial future.

A big thank you to FACT and Financial Plus Credit Union for creating this opportunity for our youth to ask questions, gain knowledge, and develop practical financial skills that support their journey toward independence.

At Youth Protection Council, we believe that preparing young people for the future means equipping them with the tools, resources, and knowledge they need to make informed decisions. Opportunities like these help our youth build confidence, strengthen their financial literacy, and prepare for the responsibilities of independent living.

Earlier this month, Youth Protection Council’s Street Outreach Coordinator, Terricina Jackson, attended Project Community Connect in Midland—a free resource fair focused on helping individuals and families connect with local support.

Held September 3 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3701 Jefferson Avenue in Midland, the event brought together more than 40 community organizations offering resources related to childcare, education, employment, healthcare, housing, food, utilities, household needs, and more.

There was also free brunch, food distribution, and household and hygiene product giveaways, making it an opportunity for people to receive immediate support while learning about longer-term resources.

For Youth Protection Council, this work connects directly to our mission of supporting runaway and homeless youth and young people experiencing housing instability or other safety challenges. Through street outreach, we meet young people where they are, build relationships, connect them with resources, and help create pathways toward safety and stability.

Terricina’s role also extends beyond direct outreach. Building relationships with schools, families, service providers, and community organizations helps strengthen the network available to young people when they need support.

Tonight, we were honored to be one of the recipients of grant funding from the Tri-Star Shines Charitable Foundation at the 2026 Be A Light Celebration.
