TASTE OF MINISTRY - STAFF MINISTRY

When our seniors choose to shadow a called worker, they have the option to observe staff ministry. This is a great opportunity because not many of our students come from congregations that are served by a Staff Minister, so they are often seeing this work for the first time! This year, senior Christina Everett spent time with MLS alumna Carrie Groth (nee. Bade, MLS '03) at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church Cincinnati Ohio. She got to observe and participate in the important support work that Staff Ministry provides a congregation. She and fellow senior Hailey Mattes also got to join Pastor Natsis in sharing the mission of MLS with the schoolchildren.

TASTE OF MINISTRY - TEACHERS

Each year, our entire Senior class is given the opportunity to shadow a pastor, teacher, or staff minister for an average day of ministry work. Those who shadowed teachers scattered across the Michigan District--even as far as Cincinnati, OH--to observe classrooms, participate in school activities, and see the life of a teacher even after school. Even for the students who will pursue other careers after graduation, Taste of Ministry provides insight into the life of a called worker that all future church leaders can appreciate!

Once a week, MLS welcomes a guest preacher to lead our morning chapel. Yesterday, we welcomed Pastor Josiah Mittelstadt who serves at St. Paul's, Saginaw. Pastor Mittelstadt is pictured with students who are members of St. Paul's.

We thank Pastor Mittelstadt for his wonderful message from God’s Word!

Last Thursday, Vice President Matt Prost accompanied a group of students to Wellspring Senior Services in Saginaw Township for an afternoon filled with laughter, great conversation, and some friendly puzzle competition.

Thank you to the team and residents at Wellspring for having us, we loved sharing smiles and solving puzzles together!

Tickets are now on sale for the MLS Fine Arts Department performance of “Check Please” on November 7 & 8. It is a comedy that centers on two main characters, Guy and Girl, who are each trying to navigate the perils of modern dating. They encounter one bizarre match after another until they realize that they might be a great match for each other. After their relationship runs its course, they dive back into the dating world only to find the options have grown stranger.

Showtimes: Saturday at 6:30 pm and Sunday at 3:00 pm

One week away! Mark your calendars for Friday, October 16, at 7:00 p.m. as Michigan Lutheran Seminary hosts a special evening of Cardinal football, fellowship, and honor as our team takes on Laingsburg High School.

At halftime, we will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the 1986 State Champion Cardinal Football Team. We invite all players, coaches, managers, cheerleaders, parents, and fans from that unforgettable team to return to campus and help us celebrate 40 years of memories, championships, and Cardinal pride.

It is also our 2026 Salute to Service Night. Michigan Lutheran Seminary invites all active-duty military personnel and veterans to join us so we may honor and thank you for your selfless service, sacrifice, and legacy. All active or retired veterans will receive free admission to the game, as well as a complimentary combo meal before kickoff as a small token of our gratitude.

We look forward to welcoming our alumni, veterans, families, and friends to campus for an evening of fellowship, appreciation, and football. We hope to see you there!
