💚 PURPOSE IN ACTION: Sometimes It Only Takes One Person to Say, “I’ll Help.”

Partnership Center + NEST | Weekly Update from Duane

Can you believe summer is already coming to a close? ☀️🍂

This week, Duane's Word of the Day is one that perfectly describes what happens every day at Partnership Center NEST:

💚 PURPOSE

Purpose creates the passion, compassion, and drive within our volunteers, donors, partners, and supporters to make life a little better for people right here in the community we live in and love.

And this week, we saw PURPOSE in action.

🚚 110 STOPS IN JUST 5 WEEKS!

Our Big Yellow Truck crews completed 21 donation pickups last week, bringing our five-week total to an incredible:

110 DONATION STOPS! 🚛💨

And somehow...our barns are not full!

110 STOPS all done by guys over 70 years old!

We're consistently averaging around 20 pickups every week, collecting quality furniture and household essentials that will soon become part of someone else's fresh start.

This week, 9 families are already scheduled to come through the NEST. Many families today need an entire household—from beds and dressers to kitchenware, linens, lamps, and even the knives, forks and spoons that most of us never think twice about.

This week's story reminds us exactly why this mission matters.

A pregnant mother and her 2-year-old child were leaving the Underground Railroad and moving into their new home that very day.

She arrived at her NEST appointment nearly in a panic.

Please keep Diane K. and her family in your prayers as she continues her upcoming visits to the University of Michigan Hospital.tal.l. Unfortunately.

Her mother rushed to help, but without enough people or a truck and trailer, they didn't know what they were going to do.

That's when Anderson, one of our newest volunteers, stepped forward.

“I'll help.”

He brought his truck.
He brought his trailer.
And most importantly—he brought his heart. 💚

Because Anderson stepped up, this pregnant mom and her little one didn't have to spend their first nights in their new home sleeping on the floor.

They slept in their own beds.

Safe. Comfortable. Together.

🏠 That's PURPOSE.
🛏️ That's a FRESH START.
❤️ That's what community looks like.

Thank you, Anderson. You didn't just move furniture that day—you changed what that family's first night in their new home looked like.

🛒 THE NEST NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Our shelves could especially use:

🧀 Cheese slicers
🥄 Graters
🔌 Extension cords
🥔 Potato mashers
🛏️ Twin mattress pads

We're also working to fill our First Aid Kits and need:

🩹 Band-Aids
🧴 Bacitracin
🧼 Antiseptic wipes
🔎 Tweezers

Small items? Absolutely.

But imagine moving into a home with nothing.

Suddenly, the smallest things become necessities.

📅 SAVE THE DATE — OCTOBER 14!

🏡 Partnership Center NEST Open House

We want our volunteers, donors, partners, friends, and community members there to help us celebrate and proudly show you what your support has helped create!

More details coming soon!

🙏 Keeping Our PC Family in Our Prayers

Please keep Diane K. and her family in your prayers as she continues upcoming visits to the University of Michigan hospital.

We also send our prayers and best wishes to Doug K. as he prepares for hip replacement surgery at Covenant this week.

To every person who donates furniture, gives financially, volunteers, drives the truck, sorts household goods, refers a family, shares our posts, or simply tells someone about our mission:

YOU are part of the PURPOSE.

Sometimes changing someone's life doesn't require doing something enormous.

Sometimes it simply requires being the person willing to say:

❤️ “I'LL HELP.”

💛 Relationships Change Lives. 💛

At the Saginaw Partnership Center + NEST, we don’t just distribute furniture, household goods, and resources—we build relationships that restore hope.

This week’s word was Relationship:
A connection that brings people together and changes lives.

And that’s exactly what happened this week.

A 60-year-old gentleman arrived at our doors exhausted, discouraged, and convinced no one could help him. After being turned away time and again, he met one of our own—Connie M.

For hours, Connie made calls, researched records, tracked down documents, and refused to give up. When everything was finally completed, the gentleman walked outside…and broke down in tears.

“You’re the only one—all these years—to help me. You are an angel.”

❤️ That’s what happens when compassion meets commitment.

This Week at a Glance:

🚚 24 Big Yellow Truck stops
🏡 7 families received the household essentials they needed for a fresh start
🛏️ Multiple homes completely furnished
🛠️ Hundreds of donated items received—including tools and musical instruments
💙 Countless acts of kindness that often go unseen

Since We Began…

✨ 2,400 families served
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 More than 6,000 people impacted
👧 Over 3,600 children helped
📦 18,700 household items given away
🚛 48 Big Yellow Truck stops in just the last two weeks

Current NEST Needs:
• Cheese slicers
• Graters
• Spaghetti spoons
• Laundry soap
• Toasters

First Aid Kit Needs:
• Quart-size Ziploc bags

💚 Every Bed. Every Family. Every Fresh Start.

❤️ Last Week at the Nest
🚚 15 donation pickups completed by our amazing truck crews.
🏡 7 families furnished with the essentials they needed to begin a new chapter.
💛 Countless acts of kindness made possible because of YOU.

A Story That Says It All...

Connie recently helped a mother of eight children who had escaped a domestic violence situation and was finally moving into a safe home.

In just one afternoon, thanks to generous donations, Partnership Center NEST was able to provide:
🛏️ 6 bed frames
🛏️ 6 mattresses
🛌 Bedding for the entire family
❤️ 9 pillows
🛁 9 towels
📺 A TV stand

As the truck was loaded, the mother stood in tears, overwhelmed with gratitude knowing that every one of her children would have a bed to sleep in that very night.

These are the moments that remind us why we do what we do.

🛒 We Currently Need Nest Items for our essentials bag that everyone gets which includes all of the kitchen items we all forget about. Most items can be bought at dollar store, or cleaned out of your drawers - bet you don't need more than one potato masher or carrot pealer... just sayin'

From the Dollar Store:
• LED Night Lights
• Single-Pack Toothbrushes
• Shower Curtain Liners
• Graters
• Spaghetti Spoons

Other Needed Items:
• Toasters
• Laundry Soap
• Bath Mats & Small Rugs

Every donated item helps transform an empty house into a home.

ALWAYS
🚚 Looking Ahead...
Starting tomorrow, our truck crew already has 12 pickups scheduled, including two estate cleanouts, ensuring more quality household items will be available for families in need. Always looking for some younger men to give our guys a break, even for an hour would be AMAZING!

Finally, thank you to everyone who donates, volunteers, shops our garage sales, or simply shares our mission with others. We couldn't keep our doors open—or our Big Yellow Truck on the road—without each of you. And thats the Truth!

Together, we're not just furnishing homes.

We're restoring dignity, creating hope, and giving families the fresh start they deserve. 💚

💔 What if you finally escaped… but had nowhere to sleep?

Imagine finding the courage to leave an abusive relationship.

You finally find a safe place.

You have the keys to your new home…

But there’s no bed.
No dishes.
No towels.
No table.
No place to call home.

For many families in our community, this isn’t imagination—it’s an unfortunate reality.

💚 That’s where Partnership Center NEST steps in.

Last week alone…

🏡 8 families walked through our doors and left with the furniture and household essentials they needed to begin again.

🚚 Our amazing volunteers completed 15 donation pickups, rescuing furniture that will now help families instead of ending up in a landfill.

One story touched our hearts.

A woman who had escaped domestic violence called looking for a bed. She had found safety but had absolutely nothing.

The very next morning, our volunteers made sure she left with a twin bed, fresh sheets, blankets… and even a towel.

Later she sent us this message:

“I cannot thank you enough… This bed is so soft… you even gave me new covers and sheets… and even a towel! I appreciate it so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

❤️ Sometimes hope looks like a bed.

Sometimes dignity comes wrapped in a clean towel.

Sometimes a fresh start begins with the kindness of complete strangers.

Here’s something you may not know…

Since late 2024, Saginaw’s rate of families returning to homelessness has remained below the national goal.

That doesn’t happen by accident.

It happens because neighbors care.

It happens because volunteers show up.

It happens because donors give.

It happens because of YOU.

🛒 Can you help us this week?

If you’re making a quick stop at Dollar Tree or the grocery store, would you grab one extra item?

We’re especially in need of:

✅ LED Night Lights
✅ Sealed Toothbrushes
✅ AA Batteries
✅ Laundry Pods
✅ Bandages
✅ Bacitracin/Neosporin
✅ Tweezers
✅ Cheese Graters
✅ Colanders
✅ Spaghetti Spoons

These simple items become part of a family’s fresh start.

This Week’s Story of Hope

Shared by Amy

Angela’s journey reminds us why this ministry exists.

After spending several months living in the waiting room of a local emergency room, Angela found safety and hope at the Mustard Seed Shelter. Six months pregnant at the time, she describes herself as being simply…

“Scared.”

She had no idea how she would ever bring a newborn into the world without a home.

Fast forward to this past Thursday.

With the support of Partnership Center NEST, the incredible staff at Mustard Seed Shelter, our volunteers, and even several guests from The Well of Saginaw Men’s Shelter, Angela and her beautiful daughter My’Ella moved into their new home.

Today, My’Ella is thriving, meeting every developmental milestone with flying colors—a reflection of the love, stability, and encouragement her mother received during one of the darkest chapters of her life.🩷💜

On one of the hottest days of the year, volunteers worked together without hesitation to make sure this family had everything they needed.

This is what community looks like.

This is what hope looks like.

This is why we do what we do.

Good Day PC Faithful,

As we celebrate our nation’s independence this Fourth of July weekend, we’re reminded that freedom also means the opportunity for a fresh start. Every day at Partnership Center NEST, because of your generosity, families are given exactly that—a chance to begin again with dignity, hope, and the support of an incredible community.

Last Week at the NEST

The summer heat definitely tested our volunteers this week!

Our dedicated truck crews completed 12 donation pickups, including two full-house cleanouts. While many of the donated items were beautiful and exactly what families need, they were also heavy and challenging to retrieve in temperatures nearing 96 degrees.

🚚 Our Big Yellow Truck was filled eight different times throughout the week!

To our amazing truck crews—thank you. Your hard work, perseverance, and servant hearts never go unnoticed. We hope you enjoy a well-deserved long holiday weekend to rest and recharge.

Meanwhile, inside the NEST…

❤️ Seven families walked through our warehouse and selected the furniture and household essentials they needed to begin again. There were plenty of smiles, grateful hearts, and another seven homes transformed into places of comfort and hope.

Our NEST Needs

As always, we rely on the generosity of our community.

We are currently in need of:
