Good Morning, Fellow PC Faithful!

A sunny weekend is greeting us this morning! I hope your plans are sun-related and fun!

1 + 1 = 3 … That’s the Math Behind PC

Follow me on this:

One person’s day of effort yields only the maximum that person can perform in a day. But two people—a team—can share duties and responsibilities. When teamed properly, they can produce at least the equivalent of three individuals working alone.

1 + 1 = 3

Now take that concept a step further.

One agency—such as Partnership Center—joining forces with another agency like Emmaus House, Habitat for Humanity, Old Town Mission, the YMCA, and many others multiplies that equation many times over.

1 + 1 = 3++++

One of our goals is to partner with any and all organizations willing to work together for the greater good.

Case in Point

Last week at Grand Valley State University, we acquired:

✅ 538 mattresses
✅ 45 dressers
✅ 50 kitchen chairs

All in one day. No problem!

These items are now in our possession, and already 60 mattresses have been distributed to a YMCA up north that desperately needed them for an outreach program.

Many agencies played a role in making this happen, and many will benefit from these resources for a year or more.

1 + 1 = 3!!!

Last Week at PC

🤩5 giveaways completed, each helping families begin their own “start-over” stories

Pastor Dan (who, along with his wife, started Old Town Christian Outreach) has visited us several times. He constantly praises our mission and what we do here.

Recently, we were able to help his grand-niece and her 2-year-old child escape a difficult situation and get settled into a home. She was even given a lawnmower that had been generously donated to us.

Unfortunately, after using it once, the pull cord snapped the second time she tried to start it.

I had her drop it off and then called our handy fix-it guy, Terry T. Of course, Terry came right over, took it home, fixed it, and returned it the very next day.

I called Pastor Dan to pick it up, and he was amazed by the quick turnaround. He was incredibly grateful.

Another shout-out to our amazing group of helpers who make this organization rock!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend to all our PC faithful! 🇺🇸

Summer is here…
Almost!
Relax and enjoy — the warmer stuff is (really) just around the corner!

💭 Ponder:

We’ll start with Wednesday’s trip to Grand Valley State University.

A HUGE thank you to the 20+ volunteers who helped pick up, transport, and stock donated inventory:
🛏️ 42 dressers
🪑 50+ kitchen chairs

This mission involved:
• A truck and two very willing volunteers (Terri and Mariah) from Emmaus House
• Three 26-foot trucks loaned by our friends at the local Penske Truck location
• Two truck-and-trailers (thanks Tom B for one of those!)
• At least 10 students from GVSU
• One unfortunate deer
• One disabled windshield on the Big Yellow Truck
• And some mildly shaken-up passengers: Dan, Greg, and Curt

Special thanks to Jack B for all the planning and coordination that made this possible.

By the end of the day — mission accomplished.
Never a doubt… always an adventure!

Because of this effort, we are now in a position to help virtually anyone in our area in need of an XL twin beds for the foreseeable future.

Pickups were thankfully lighter through the rest of the week — but still filled with good, usable items for the next family coming through our doors.

❤️ Eight giveaways happened last week, and each family had a story. Here’s one shared by Kay:

“I had a young man who has been trying for 15 months to get custody of his 3-year-old son. He needed to get things in order so he could get custody. He recently got a job and a house. The next thing he needed was a whole house of furniture, and he was referred to us.

During the picking-out stage, he must have thanked me a dozen times and said ‘God Bless You’ too many times to count. Being able to make a family whole again is a big reason that I love volunteering at PC. I definitely feel blessed to have been able to serve him.”

“I’d like to acknowledge the gals who take calls during the week. This gives Connie time to make forms, run to the warehouse when donations come in, help those we serve with IDs and birth certificates, and help keep us all organized.

Suzie Helfrecht, Sue Kohl, and Sue Dekett field calls on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. Our helper from Michigan Works!, Makahla, answers calls on Wednesday and Friday. They are faithful and have been such a HUGE help to our staff.”

🌷 Spring in Michigan. Community in Action. 💚

Good Monday Evening, PC Family!

This past week on the road with our truck crews, we experienced one of those moments that remind you this mission is about so much more than furniture.

We worked with a family whose mother and father had recently passed away -just six days apart. As belongings were packed up, stories were shared — funny memories, emotional moments, tears, laughter, and reflections on two parents who built a beautiful life centered around family.

Later that evening, we received a thank-you text saying how much it meant that our team took the time to stop and simply listen.

And honestly, that’s one thing our truck crews do exceptionally well.
They don’t just move furniture.
They show compassion.
They listen.
That alone becomes a ministry.

💚 This past week at the NEST:

🚛 17 pickups completed, including 2 estate cleanouts

🏠 4 giveaways scheduled for families starting over

🧺 10 volunteers from MyMichigan and Horizons Conference Center joined us for the first annual Community Impact Day, helping sort linens and tackle yard work. Thank you, George & Faith - Erin's interns from Dale Carnegie.

🛏️ 25 twin mattresses and excess furniture delivered to Old Town Christian Outreach

🏕️ 56 twin mattresses will soon head north to YMCA Camp HAYOWENTHA up on the coast of Torch Lake to continue helping others

📅 COMING UP THIS WEEK:
Wednesday, 5/20/26, is our big trip to Grand Valley State University to pick up a large donation of beds, dressers, and chairs. (25 people scheduled, 3 Penske semi-trucks, which will be driven by Doug, Mark, and Ken, Emmaus truck with 2 of their ladies, a van, many trucks and a couple of trailers)
To everyone volunteering for this trip — THANK YOU. We’ll be reaching out soon with details. It’s going to be a busy, fun, impactful day!

💚 Small Acts. Big Impact. 💚 HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY 💚

Good Morning, PC Family!

From Duane: After this past week, one thing is crystal clear:
There is absolutely nothing “ordinary” about the people who make Partnership Center NEST what it is.

Here’s just a glimpse of what happened this past week because people chose to show up and help others:

🏠 8 families were served and supported as they stepped into a brand-new beginning.

🚛 16 pickups completed — including 3 house cleanouts AND 45 extra boxes of bedding from our friends at Emmaus House.

🛏️ 200 twin beds received from Saginaw Valley State University — including 64 with attached dressers! A HUGE team effort.

📦 Our sorters and warehouse crews handled an incredible amount of inventory this week with nonstop hustle and heart.

💛 Erin and Connie continued fundraising efforts with Tri-Star Shines and preparations for an upcoming LPGA golf tournament in Midland, while also helping clients obtain 3 birth certificates and IDs. One gentleman even walked 5 miles to meet Connie for assistance.

💵 Alice and several volunteers raised $operating money$ through a garage sale to help continue this mission. It costs lots to run our truck daily, keep our warehouses lit and open, and our Nest with only 1.5 paid staff and 50+ volunteers - the work we are able to do on the budget we have is REMARKABLE! Please consider donating financially to keep us going.

And this story says everything about what community really looks like:

A woman dropping off donations at Old Town Christian Outreach overheard a young couple saying they had nothing for their home. She connected them with Partnership Center NEST, helped entertain their children while they shopped, and even called nurses from MyMichigan Medical Center to help load their truck.

That’s FOUR organizations and multiple people coming together to help ONE family start over.

That’s what community looks like.
That’s what small acts can do.

📅 COMING SOON:
On May 20th, we head convoy-style to Grand Valley State University to pick up another large load of mattresses, dressers, and chairs. Thank you to everyone already stepping up to help make it happen!

That’s exactly what all of you are doing every single day.

💥 ANSWER: ABSOLUTELY NOT.
In fact… we’re taking in MORE than ever before — nearly 800 by June.

Why?

Because the NEED is EXPLODING across Saginaw:

🛏️ Old Town Ministries → requesting 30–50 beds MONTHLY
🛠️ Impact Design → ongoing needs as they arise
🏥 Saginaw Gateway to Recovery → 60-bed rehab center fully furnished
🤝 More agencies reaching out every week

✨ We’ve been given an incredible opportunity:
To make sure NO child in our community goes without a bed.

It's after 3:00—we should be closed. A lady comes to the back door. Connie and I look at each other… “Who could that be?”

Just because our hours are 10am-3pm we always make exceptions and stay late. Thankful we stayed late today to welcome all these amazing items. 💚

It turned out to be someone incredibly thoughtful. A woman stopping by to drop off a donation from her mom—an entire collection of brand new kitchen items from the CASINO!!!!

We’re talking pots, pans, Dutch ovens, coffee makers, luggage, casserole dishes, waffle makers, toasters… all brand new.😳😳😁💚💚

Moments like this remind us how generous this community truly is. 💚

Thank you, Mary, and to her daughter for bringing her car load over and for thinking of us and sharing such a meaningful donations!!

Saginaw Partnership Center Newsletter – 4/24/2026

Good day, PC faithful—

Spring is making itself known across mid-Michigan—flowers blooming, trees budding, and green returning all around us. It’s also a great time to reconnect with neighbors and community.

A moment to reflect:
Have you ever experienced being:
• Homeless
• Broke
• Without a car
• Beaten
• Hungry
• Abused
• Completely down and out

For many, the answer is no—or not in a life-threatening way. But for many who come to the Partnership Center, these are not hypotheticals—they are current realities.

Is that desperation? Yes.
Can we help? Also yes.

Often without delay, we’re able to step in and help redirect the course of individuals and families in crisis. It’s a powerful reminder that we’ve been blessed with the opportunity to be a blessing to others.

• 7 birth certificates secured
• 5 ID cards obtained
• 7 families furnished with full household items
• Partnering with Mustard Seed to move a 70+ year-old woman—after 20 years on the streets—into a safe apartment
• 17 donation pickups, including 4 estate-level collections

We are so grateful for the continued generosity of our community! Because of you, we’re able to help furnish homes and meet basic needs for families in our area. ❤️

🛋️ Items We Accept Include:• Furniture (couches, chairs, tables, lamps, bookcases, etc. – clean and in good condition)• Bedroom items (beds, dressers, linens, blankets)• Kitchen essentials (dishes, cookware, utensils, small kitchen tools)• Bathroom items (towels, shower curtains, rugs)• Appliances (microwaves, toasters, coffee pots, washers/dryers, etc.)• Miscellaneous household goods (cleaning supplies, vacuums, rugs, TVs, and more)

🚫 Items We Do NOT Accept:• Food, clothing, or medications• King-size beds & mattresses• Sleeper sofas, sectionals, or recliner couches• Desks, entertainment centers, or large cabinets• Tube TVs, books, office supplies• Exercise equipment, pianos, or oversized/heavy items• Built-in appliances and various other restricted items

📦 Please ensure all donations are boxed, clean, and in good working condition.

🚚 Final acceptance is determined by our dedicated drivers — Duane, Dan, or Doug — depending on the day.

💡 Even when we can’t use certain items, we make sure they still make a difference! Many donations are shared with partner organizations like:Salvation Army, Able Lite, Underground Resale Store, and the Humane Society.

🌎 Nothing goes to the landfill.It’s truly a blessing to turn your generosity into blessings for others.

Jacob stopped by Beacon of Hope first and then brought over several beds and box springs to Partnership Center Nest — all in excellent condition. We met up there, coordinated quickly, and everything was delivered and back home within the hour. That kind of efficiency and generosity makes a real difference for the families we serve.

We’re incredibly grateful for community partners like Jacob who show up and help us keep things moving. 💚 you truly are an inspiration to many.
