Saginaw Police K9 Unit

Saginaw Police K9 Unit Your direct link for updates and stories about the dogs of the Saginaw Police Department. Our dogs are: Cigan, Harvey, Ares, Denver, and Krixus.

The Saginaw Police K9 Unit (SPK9U) consists of five Saginaw Police Officers and their canine (K9) partners. The K9s are trained in several areas of law enforcement including tracking, narcotic detection, bomb detection (K9 Harvey), human tracking, article searching, and suspect apprehension. Our unit is the largest in the area and while we are employed by the Saginaw PD, we can be called to assist

any police agency in Saginaw County as needed. Our unit is donation funded and our funds are run through the Saginaw Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) foundation. Donations and SPK9U merchandise sales pay vet bills, continued training, and equipment for dogs. You can see our dogs in action at planned demonstrations around the area or on regular patrols in the city. If you see us out and about, come say hi. You can also request to have a K9 demonstration at a local school, neighborhood watch group, or other events by contacting one of our K9 handlers.

Saginaw Police K9 wants to give a HUGE shoutout to Janae from Pretty Pooch and Laurie from Looking Pretty Pet Grooming!

Laurie came out Saturday to help us, and Janae survived BOTH days of Dog Bowl weather… which honestly deserves some sort of medal, therapy session, and possibly hazard pay. 🌧️🐾😂

For the first time in Dog Bowl history, the weather was absolutely terrible, but these ladies still showed up smiling and ready to help. Without supporters and businesses like them, our unit would be in trouble… and Krixy, Viktor, Taz, Loki and Vader would probably be out here demanding snacks and payroll advances.

Also, huge thanks to Paige and Zasha for always answering the call whenever that feral little goofball Krixy needs something. At this point, he basically has his own staff.

We truly appreciate all of you more than words can say! 🐕💙

We are incredibly thankful for amazing supporters like them. Without generous donations like this, our dogs wouldn’t have many of the essential tools and medical equipment they need to safely do their jobs every day.

Thank you for always supporting our team and helping protect the ones who protect our community.

The Saginaw Police K-9 Unit would like to thank Szajna-Carr For the Paws for inviting Officer Nelson and K9 Krixus to their third annual bowling event last Saturday.

Officer Nelson truly enjoyed meeting so many supportive members of the community who care about K-9s, and K9 Krixus loved getting to interact with all the wonderful people at the event.

We greatly appreciate everything this organization does in support of our unit!
