What a fabulous way to start our 2026-2027 School Residency Season with the most impressive Jacome Flamenco, based right here in Arizona. Chris and his lovely wife Lena were joined by two more dancers, Yumi La Rosa and Bernadette Gaxiola (L-R). They spent 3 days in Graham County performing for school children and an impactful dance workshop for the Safford High School Dance class. Then they finished Wednesday by performing for 900+ school kids from 13 different schools from Graham and Greenlee counties on Wednesday morning at the David M Player Center for the Arts and after a well-deserved afternoon rest, returned that evening to give their very best with an extensive and beautiful variety of flamenco dance and guitar solos of both soulfully sweet and blazingly fast passages. There were lots of joyful 'gritos' of olé given to the dancers by audience members who left with big smiles from the enjoyment of having experienced the vitalic art form of flamenco dance from the heart of Spain. Olé!

What great news!!! I don't usually post anything on our page that is remotely political, but I'm pretty certain that a majority of people in all parties will be happy that this name change gets reversed, forever. I also hope that artists refrain from cancelling their performances and help to keep this Center functional with Kennedy Center employees enjoying careerx working their, be they concession stand workers, janitors, directors, whatever's.

Judge Christopher Cooper also ordered Kennedy Center officials to halt plans to close for two years starting in July.
