Yesterday’s Rotary meeting came with a side of celebration!
In honor of Meg’s birthday, we enjoyed a wonderful lunch catered by Meg’s Place in Ft. Thomas. The menu was a hit—delicious chicken fettuccine alfredo, fresh salad, and of course, birthday cupcakes to top it all off.
Meg also shares a birthday week with several of our fellow Rotarians, so it turned into a great group celebration.
Happy Birthday to Meg, Vance, Chalene, Roberta, and Yesenia. We loved celebrating with you all!

Thank you Rotarian Tyson Richins for an incredibly moving and powerful presentation in honor of World Holocaust Remembrance Day. It was one of those moments that left the room quiet, reflective, and deeply impacted.

Tyson reminded us of the importance of remembering. Remembering the lives lost, the stories silenced, and the consequences of hatred and indifference. It was emotional, sobering, and necessary. These are not easy conversations, but they are vital ones.

By remembering the past, we honor those who suffered and strengthen our commitment to move forward with compassion, understanding, and courage. Thank you, Tyson, for sharing this with such sincerity and respect, and reminding us why remembrance truly matters.

Gila Valley Leadership continues its day focused on education!

We were honored to hear from another inspiring Safford Rotarian, Shane Hawkins, Superintendent of Fort Thomas Schools, as he shared valuable insights about education in Arizona.

Leaders like Shane remind us how dedication, knowledge, and passion shape the future of our communities. Grateful for the impact our local educators and Rotarians make every day!

Today, Safford Rotarian and Pima School Superintendent Sean Rickert spent time with Gila Valley Leadership Cohort 20, sharing valuable insight into our local education system and how educational funding truly works.

Safford Rotarians continue to lead by example, serving, educating, and strengthening the community we all call home. Their commitment to sharing knowledge and experience is a big part of what makes the Gila Valley better every day.

Safford Rotary is filled with the most amazing members, and getting to know their backgrounds is always both educational and inspiring!

This week we highlight Rotarian Gerhard DeBeer. Born and raised in South Africa, Gerhard was a World Junior Discus Champion before coming to the U.S. to attend college. Amazingly, he had never played football until his time at the University of Arizona—yet went on to play in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers and later the Buffalo Bills! 🏈🇺🇸

Gerhard loves the United States and proudly became a U.S. citizen last year. Today, he and his family call the Gila Valley home, and he now helps homeowners achieve their dreams at Patriot Pacific.

We are proud to have Gerhard as a fellow Rotarian and neighbor. 💙💛

Safford Rotary had a fun time taking the Marshmallow Challenge! Rotarian Torey Cranford brought the challenge to share insight into Entrepreneurship and discuss this summers Y.E.E.T. ( Young Entrepreneur Excellence Training) sponsored by EAC Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and United Way of Graham & Greenlee Counties

Y.E.E.T. is open to all high school age students in Graham and Greenlee counties. This is a great opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship and creating a business pitch. There will be cash prizes. For more information contact Torey Cranford at EAC SBDC [email protected]
