💕Do you know what mycelium is?

Mycelium, or mycorrysis, is a fungus that expands underground creating a network of connection between all plant species, something like the internet, that allows them not only to communicate, but also to take care of themselves, protect themselves, feed themselves. And Stock up on the water.

When a tree from the forest is cut down, this mycelium communicates to many trees in the forest that one of them is dying and all the other trees through the mycelium begin to care for the remaining trunk to try to save that life. They feed it water it protect it Because that dying log is part of the forest family.
Everything has a language It's the universal language.

We learn to reconnect with this non-verbal language, understanding that we are all part of the same thing.
We are neither superior nor inferior We are like children who still have a lot to learn from our elders, from the trees and the forest and above all from Our Mother Earth.

Last March I wrote about a live oak in Safety Harbor that was older than 250 years old. Unfortunately that tree was cut down this year, in 2018. What makes me happy tonight, however, is an even older live oak in Safety Harbor, called the Baranoff Tree, was purchased by the city with the intent to preserve it. The property includes 4 lots adjacent to Main street and includes the lot where the tree is located. That is very good news for the City and its residents. What some people do not understand is the lot was developable and one day there would be a dispute about the tree. We, on the Commission, unanimously solved that future problem tonight. The seed for this tree probably germinated between the years 1500 and 1600. The tree was certainly witnessed and passed under by tocobaga Indians who built a midden about a 100 yards away at the elf tree next to the library. Pedro Menedez de Aviles may have walked under this tree in 1566. The tree was quite old when it became part of America in 1819. It was ancient when the city was incorporated in 1917 and it survived World War I, the great depression, World War II and the land development boom of the 1950s to the 1980s. Tonight, September 17, 2018, we assured that it would be preserved for the residents and visitors into the future. One of the things I am most proud of, and I want to thank the Commission for the unanimous vote!
