Winning isn’t just about what’s on the scoreboard.
Week 8 of Kings and Queens Rise, hosted by Fruitridge/Stockton at Christian Brothers High School, challenged youth to think about what it means to be a winner in every aspect of life.
Through this week’s curriculum, I Am a Winner, participants reflected on resilience, perseverance and how to navigate setbacks both on and off the court. Youth shared attributes and behaviors of winners, how they stay positive during challenges and why success is about more than the final score.
As coaches and parents reminded us, “our communities win because of this programming” and “KQR ensures that our kids win, on and off the court.”
Because one of the most important lessons we can teach our young people is how to respond when things don’t go their way. Whether celebrating victories, overcoming challenges or supporting one another through difficult moments, our youth showed that winning in life is about character, effort and the courage to get back up every time you fall.
